Racing Discussion / Re: Illegal crate sportsman at woodhull
« on: June 25, 2014, 12:04:23 AM »
I think that woodhull should hire the DIRT tech inspectors to come down on a random night and have EVERY single car checked their way at the beginning of the night (motors cold) before any cars hit the track.  That means no one goes out for hot laps everyone gets their cars checked instead.  Once it is established that Everyone is Legal by DIRT tech then the woodhull tech inspectors can continue keeping and eye on the field.  While the DIRT guys are there it will be a perfect time for the inspectors to get properly schooled.   If anyone is illegal by DIRT they should not be allowed to run there till they have proof that there is a new motor. Not a fixed motor by a gm repair shop.  I know for a fact if I have enough money to cheat I sure have enough money to pay the guy to BUILD me a motor and have him SEAL it.  Lets say that they DIRT tech guys come and say it costs the track $1000 and there is 25 drivers.  Each driver should pay $40 or how ever it breaks down to.  If you are illegal you should have to pay a hefty fine and no not a 100 or 200 I am thinking like $1000 or more and loss of points for the YEAR not night and not allowed to return EVER till it is paid.  Harsh yes but I can bet you wont do it again. The way I see it it is money that is owed back to the point fund that you STOLE from the legal guys.  If your car was not checked by DIRT that night cause your second cousins mothers aunt died and you didnt come well then you should have to bolt on 200# on your car until you get DIRT to check out your car.  This is all for the Drivers that race there regularly. If you are an outsider coming for a random night this should not apply to you. If you come for more then 3 nights consecutively then you would have abide by this rule also.  By this point in the year they know who the regulars are.  This is JMO

I have taken cars out to Absolute Powder coating in St. Marys Pa. Long drive but well worth the time spent.  A lot of people that race around the area take their cars out to them.

Racing Discussion / Re: New Street stock chassis design

Unfortunately like Daryl said there are only a few tracks allow the outside shocks and the floaters aren't allowed at any tracks.  We live in an area that is sort of behind on the times.  As for your post I think its a great idea about the box tubing frame rails but like someone said about the dimensions are the problem. I think of a company like we will use gm made them then it wouldn't be an issue. Its like the 602 crates they build them and they are all the same when they leave the factory.  When people get them home then that's a different story. So if gm made the boxed frames and you bought it from them then you built a cage etc then I see a great thing there.  But until that happens or that the tube chassis are allowed in our area we will all be still using metric stock car frames.

My last post may not have been clear about the bolt on stuff.  What I mean is the rad. area that parts get damaged all the time. I am talking about that area.  It wont be attached to the main part of the cage.  So if it get wrecked then you can replace it with out a welder.

Racing Discussion / New Street stock chassis design
« on: November 30, 2013, 09:08:11 PM »
If you were to buy a new street stock chassis how much do people want to spend?  I know as cheap as everyone can get it.  What kinds of options do people like to get on their car? Do people like the idea of that if you wad the front up do you like the idea that a front and rear hoop bars could be bolt on replacements? And can be bought cheaply?  Basically I am looking to make the street stock chassis a version of a modified.  Safety is the main concern.    Rear ends 7.5 9in 8.8? People Like tall halos or low halo bars.  outside mounted shocks or stock locations? Spring cups or weld in adjusters? What other suggestions do people have? I am open to ideas and suggestions?

The trip down was fine.  a few places here and there that have some signs down and a few trees  but all in all the roads are fine and everything is fine.  I bet you I passed 300 utility trucks and all of that or more tree trucks.  Even a couple convoys of Giant Cat generators with 10-15 in a line.   Prolly 30 insurance company trucks and trailers/motor homes and least 75 Red cross trucks.  They were all headed up north.  I was still passing them down here in Mooresville.  See you all at the races
