Race Shop Floor
« on: November 16, 2012, 04:49:33 AM »
I'm sure I'll get my fingers slapped for putting this in the wrong category/area but here goes; I'm trying to reach the greatest number of people and this section gets the most views.

Has anyone out there used the stuff from epoxy-coat.com?  I want to put it on our race shop floor and am looking for someone who has experience with it.  I've used the Rustoleum Epoxy, it's junk, and I've used the U Coat It Epoxy stuff and it's also junk.... (and yes, we followed the directions closely both times with the same result!)  I've spent a couple grand so far and am nowhere...  It will cost another grand or so to do this, I just don't want to waste more money and time and end up right where I am!  These epoxy-coat people claim their stuff is "100% solids" which is supposed to be better than sliced bread, just wondering if anyone else has used it.  The've got rave reviews posted on their website, but I realize they won't post the reviews from the people that hated it and are pizzed off!  Thanks in advance for any/all help!

Joe11 -

You probably want to do it yourself to save money, and I don't blame you. But give these people a call. Their product is both decent looking AND durable... and I am almost certain that they will sell you the materials over the counter.

Geez Joe, I thought you would have had experience with all the brands out there by now and would be the one the rest of us could turn to for the best advice.   ;D

i use polished concrete with sealer applied. once it has gotten coated with a little oil and grease i use water and a squeegee and the dirt and grime floats out the door or down the drain, whichever way i push it. i prefer out the door because the drain seems to catch all of the tools and bolts i drop, they are easier to retrieve with a snorkel than the whole scuba setup.
and the plus side it doesn't show dirt and always looks the same. :)

Joe: no worries!!! As far as I'm concerned, this is race discussion, since everybody has to have a place to work on their car...
