i would wrap it up but I still dont see how it fits in the back of a pickup, plus its not my truck that we are taking. yes it is the chassis I won. charlotte to watkins glen is long way to travel in the back of a truck and not scratch the truck
Just line the bed with something. We just transported our mod chassis in the back of a pickup truck a few weeks ago. Not quite that distance. And yea, load it in back first.

do you need the plywood to go over the wheel wells or is that to not scuff the floor of the bed.

if your worried about the rest of the bed, just build some wooden frame work to fit in the back out of 2x3 or 2x4 to set in as wide and high as you need, its not rocket science, screw it together with some long sheet rock screws, put straps over and around  the chassis to hold it in and hold it down and drive it home.

i forgot,if you leave the tail gate down when buildinf the frame, you can extend the frame work to fit onto the tail gate, giving you about another 2',so you have about 10' to sit the chassis on and then you can run straps to the bumper or hitch area to secure it all when its all loaded.

when do you have to get it???   Volusia is coming up and I know there will be people that will be going through there that can pick it up and haul it back for you for a minimal cost.   Just a thought  5* might help? Call him.

You won a new chassis but you can't afford 500.00 to go get it? Maybe you should sell it right now before you get into it because you are going to need way more than that to run it!!
