Cost to race a super six?
« on: April 17, 2010, 12:40:30 PM »
I am thinking of getting a super six to race at spencers. I see that you can grab a car ready to run for about 2-3 thousand dollars... My question to anyone who races them is how much does it cost you weekly or yearly to run the car..
Obviously more if you wreck it but week to week with pit entry, fuel, tires?
Any imput would be helpful.

Thanks

Like you said, it will vary week to week, but for a team like ours with two people, it runs us $50 for admission weekly, about $10 for gas for the car, and about $10 in gas for the transportation vehicle. Tires don't cost us anything, we just get them off of the used tire piles that you can find anywhere. Finish in the top 3 and you break even, finish in the top 10 and your gas bill is payed.

Last year was our first year and including the purchase of the car, safety equipment, a trailer and all admissions we had spent about $4000. That doesn't take out race winnings and sponsor donations.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

Its not too bad on price.  Prolly one of the most affordable classes to run.  Like he said about 10 to 15 in gas a week for the car and depending on the event anywhere from 25 to 40 a week i believe.  not too many of the 40 dollar weeks.  I was usually able to make my money back for gas and entry for the race car and me.  So there is still tow money involved and a crew member.  But if you look at cost for every other class it is a great way to start and have some fun.  We have some great racing.

Let me know if you have any questions
