No wheel fence

In June 2016 my wife and I went to the Summit Raceway Park dragstrip in Norwalk, Ohio for NHRA national event. When I first sat in grandstands I thought that something wasn't right. Then I figured it out there was no wheel fence. There are concrete walls on both sides of the dragstrip but no wheel fence.  I got to admit I was nervous all day long.   :o

I haven't been to Empire Dragway in decades, but I don't ever recall seeing any fencing over 5 feet tall, anywhere along the track.....
