Here is a quick recap from me and is not necessarily the thoughts of any of my family. The race went better than I expected and had a couple of hiccups which is expected, but still gave me an ulcer the whole time it was happening. Promoting a race is by far the worst paying job in America. I couldn't be happier with the respect everyone showed both personally and on the track. We all agree Shang is way more spectacular with modifieds but we were unable to make that happen for 2 reasons. 1. There wasn't a weekend that we wouldn't be competing with another established race or track in the short time we put the race together and didn't want to have a small field. 2. We were unable to secure any sponsorship money for them and their purse was way out of our comfort zone for our first race. We can't thank the people that helped make this race happen enough I personally had no idea it took so many people to have a race but luckily we had a lot of great ones. Thanks to everyone that gave us a chance we are happy that we didn't disappoint.
Gil, I agree also, I wanted to be sure to thank everyone that was involved (esp. the Sharpsteen family/crew) for a great day of racing...I was personally able to thank Buck which I know he appreciated...even just the facility,track/racing preparation that was involved was covered nicely, considering that track was closed early in the year....(IE....mowing,weed eating, cleaning track, bathrooms, making details with concessions, lap money, etc...) painting the start/finish line black and orange and the pumpkins (the 18 sportmod made jackolanterns

out of some of them during his spin) and display in Victory lane was a nice touch...I'm glad the car count was a nice turn out and the crowd ended up decent as well considering the chilly temps...it's too bad we were pushed for time (no immediate victory lane awards/etc.) but, was def. the right/correct move to get the whole show in before the bad weather pushed in...the only other down side was loosing the PA system and score board/lap counter half way thru the race, I know that the amp got fried earlier and the effort for a temp. replacement was made/done as well, and it was a bit dangerous without the track lights (green/caution/red) working at the end. Thanks again too everyone from all the employees, volunteers, race teams, fans for doing there part in making another memorable day at SL2!, Let's hope for many more...
