What reason you got out of Racing

Okay what reaaon did you get out of racing? I think all the tracks should read the book the one minute manager meets a monkey. That way they can learn how to figure out what is the next step to solve the problem we have with asphalt racing.

Lack of tech, tried to borrow a solid lifter one night, none. Talked to atop engine builder at the track and he told me that most of the top cars were running rollers. Tech man said it was too involved checking for rollers. BS

I didn’t race; just sponsored so my reason was strictly monetary.

First I had a bad business investment ($50K+), then I lost a good job and had to supplement my income with my savings.  That was followed by the “.com” market crash and finally the current slump finished off another $50K of my savings.  By the time everything was said & done my funds were almost GONE; I just couldn’t do it anymore, so I got completely out of racing.

Now I go racing once or twice a year instead of every week.

Don't have one... racing at two tracks even at an entry level division is costly but still doing it. Idk how the bigger budget divisions and teams do it.

Lack of tech, probably would be the only reason i would quit or school reasons.
Somewhere between slow and fast is second place.

so far it looking like people got out because its no fun anymore. wondering why the fun left the sport or hobby that you were. I guess asking "why is it not fun any more". Maybe if we know the cause of this problem we can start brain storming solutions.

When you finally realize this is as far as your are going...time to get out. Drove Howe and Hanley cars, would have loved to have driven a Troyer but time ran out...Cheaper to watch...

I voted for "other" since there was no "I just suck at it" choice

I think the"not fun anymore"is a combination of all the other options.People just get fed up with the money spent,no time for good tech, etc. Its still enjoyable for us but just getting hard to deal with the stuff that goes on.We would like to travel more but just getting so costly to tow,we spend $45 for gas,$40 for two to get in the pits,$40 for race gas and would like a hotdog and fries and thats if no repairs for the night.I know some of the guys at other tracks are paying $30 to get in the pits, just don't know how they justify things but the I see guys ride snowmobile in the winter and think nothing about $9000 for a sled,$50 for gas for a day, drinks and food so I guess its what you want.

For me, it just got to the point I didn't enjoy it anymore. After working all day, the thought of going to the shop every night to work on the car just didn't do it! So, I just walked away and, stayed away for almost 10 years!! Now, I've learned how to be a spectator again and enjoy going to watch.

Got tired of fixing car after getting piled up in a heat race by some teenager racing on Daddy's dime when there are only 20 cars at the track and heats don't matter much. Pick and choose specials to go to now, found spending more time with the family was much better. Guess I just lost the passion for it.

Back in the early 90s i raced pure stocks. got out of it cuz the class got out hand and could not afford a 3000.00 engine for a PURESTOCK.. missed it so much i couldn't even go watch. So after years i forced myself to go watch. Put together a mini sprint. I was very compete, but just could not afford the gas to travel 150 miles round trip.  Found the EST Truck class, had to have 1. Very fun and affordable. So at that, I'm back in dirt racing and loving it...
