Racing surface at Lancaster?
« on: April 19, 2016, 08:24:16 AM »
With the front stretch switch to concrete was wondering how that's going to affect racing from the front stretch into the turns. Is it going to have any effect at all?.

I Don't Think It Will Change Anything. There Really Is No Front Straight There, You're Cornering The Whole Front Stretch. But We'll See Soon Enough.

If it behaves anything like the concrete they used at the Glen to smooth out some of the turns many years ago, it DEFINITELY will have an effect...but all that is a distant memory since the surface at WGI got a complete repave over the off-season and track records in every class which races there is expected to shatter all race records.  I haven't seen LMP yet to see what actually got done;  Regardless, ANY change will provide challenges to the driver, car set-up, etc.!  And that does not mean racing will somehow lose competitiveness; I would expect it be much better--JMO
