Some good news for Five Mile Point Speedway and moving forward (regarding race events too).

Yesterday afternoon we spoke again with the NYS ESD and things are moving forward.  With cooperation with Broome County they have permitted our first activity this Saturday.

Tomorrow (Saturday) we will have a 70th Anniversary T-Shirt Drive Thru in the upper parking lot.  This will occur between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Anyone that would like a t-shirt is instructed to call in your order to us at 607-651-4421.  Your order will be ready when you drive in to the upper parking lot.

Please bring exact change and have the driver of your vehicle wearing a mask.  We will hand the driver of your vehicle your order through the car window.  Shirts are $20 in all sizes.  We are nearly out of 3XL sizes, they sold quickly.

The gates around the grandstand will be closed and we want to emphasize this isn't a time to hang out.  We have had so many local inquiries about shirts so we wanted to offer this opportunity while we are at the track.

We have been working on the track itself everyday preparing for what lies ahead.

On Thursday the NYS ESD did discuss racing without spectators moving forward in the short term.  This would allow us to practice and potentially race without spectators after June 1st.  They are hoping to finalize the details later today.

We wrote a proposal to the NYS ESD six weeks ago regarding private testing and limited practice.  In that first conversation they asked why Watkins Glen International wasn't listed as one of the many tracks that signed on to our proposal.  We stated that they would advocate on their own because of the pure size and layout of their facility.

Last week our Governor did say that Watkins Glen International could go forward June 1st without spectators.  Although we knew the NYS ESD wanted all of the short tracks involved in that same time line they needed to confirm it with the Governor's Council.  That is expected to be confirmed today.

Again, we will keep everyone posted.  We appreciate everyone's patience and continued support throughout this. Please stay safe and healthy and we hope to see some of you on Saturday at our first drive thru and "curbside pickup".
