Northeast Car Show Fast Approaching
By: Steven Petty
ROCHESTER, NY…. The annual Northeast Race Car Show is fast approaching as many drivers from the pavement and the dirt are working on their cars for the upcoming show which is set for Saturday April 28th at the Home Depot store on Panorama Trail in Penfield, NY; just outside of Rochester.
“This show is the only race car show in Rochester and we are showing our appreciation to all of the sponsors, crews, drivers and fans of racing here in Upstate New York” says show organizer Gary Cole. “This is a great way to promote your local race track and help save short track racing here in New York and around the country” Cole continued.
Cole and his group of show organizers have decided to put this show on for free with free admission and registration. “We know all too well how the economy these days has put a damper on a lot of things” Cole said.
Representatives from Dunn Tire Raceway Park in Lancaster, Spencer Speedway in Williamson and Wyoming County International Speedway in Perry, NY will be on hand as well as their 2012 racing schedules to hand out to all show goers. A few of the participants include two-time Spencer Speedway Sunoco Modified Champion Kevin Timmerman as well as Super Stock Champion Kris Hilleger, two-time Spencer champion Jim Steffenhagan Jr. and defending Six Cylinder class title holder Tim Faro. Also on hand will be Oswego Kartway Champion Hannah Weltzer, Race of Champions Modified Tour regular Chris Ridsdale, as well as Fulton Speedway Sportsman regular Daryl Barrett plus a few drag racers from the area drag strips will also be on hand.
As well as the many current cars on hand, a few restorations will also be represented. Those machines include a restored Dave Marcis Winston Cup Car as well as a Geoff Bodine Valiant Modified and a rolling tribute to Dutch Hoag with the Genesee Beer sponsored #7 paint scheme.
There will be trophies handed out for Best in Show as well as door prizes and a 50/50 cash raffle. Proceeds from the raffles will go towards the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers. Music will be provided by DJ Danger and food will be provided by Gary’s Dog-N-It Food Cart.
