KIRKWOOD COMMUNITY CONCERT “PACK THE TRACK” EVENT ON THURSDAY AND 2018 CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT THIS SATURDAY AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY.

KIRKWOOD, NY…The end of summer is quickly approaching but Five Mile Point Speedway is ready for two big days of music, food and racing.  On Thursday Five Mile Point Speedway will be the site of a Kirkwood Community event that includes a concert, farmer’s market, food vendors and a bmx bike rodeo for kids.  Activities will take place on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturday the entire 2018 racing season comes down to one night, Season Championship Night.  Seven divisional track championships will be decided on this final night of point racing at the speedway.  Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Thursday activities were moved to Five Mile Point Speedway after the Kirkwood Valley Park was severely damaged in last weeks flooding.  The speedway will also serve as the site for CHOW distribution packs for families that were recently affected by the local flooding.  Family food boxes will be available beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the speedway.

Doug & Eamonn will perform at 5 p.m. and the Gents will play between 6 and 8 p.m. on Thursday as part of this FREE fun filled evening at the speedway.  There will be numerous food trucks, a farmer’s market and a bmx bicycle rodeo taking place for youngsters.  Kids do need to bring their bike and helmet for that activity.

On Saturday the 2018 Track Championships will be decided on one night for all of the weekly divisions.  As always, kids 12 years old and younger will be admitted free on Saturday.  All of the popular weekly racing divisions will be in competition including the Big Block/Small Block Modifieds.  Brian Malcolm from Lake Ariel, PA is the current Modified point leader entering Saturday.

On Saturday pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 4:30 p.m.  Practice gets underway for the teams at 5:30 p.m. with racing set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
