There have been recent cases where criminal charges were filed against a retaliating driver, but I also agree that involving law enforcement in racing is a bad idea. This country is over-legislated enough already. The last thing we need in racing is to have the cops start making calls. In order to do that, there has to be strict penalties for severe retaliation like the one seen in that video.

I'm wondering if anyone from New Jersey is reading this. I picked NJ because there is an auto racing division of the State Police there, and I'm wondering what the cops would do in this situation...
If they can have artists, pianists, florists, dentists and bicyclists... then I must be a racist.

When I was racing in the Carolinas it was very common to see a driver leaving in the backseat of a police car after purposefully wrecking a car on the track or fighting in the pits. I don't know what the full penalty was, but they were spending the night in jail.  Mind you the cops were already at the track, so it wasn't a huge deal for them to take someone away.

Personally, I think banning from the track is a good policy. In an ideal world it would be nice if other tracks and series would enforce the bans. Unfortunately, too many tracks ban drivers for personal or mysterious reasons and it would be hard to be consistent on the policy.

I agree that them ending up on the wall like that is not cool , but what  if when the white car spun the yellow he ended uphitting an infield tire and flipped ? Did anyone else notice how far back the 2nd & 3rd place cars were ? Looks to me like they saw THOSE two going at it and saw trouble coming . How about when white spun yellow , looks like he gestured out the window after hed did it then pumped his fist out the window to show off . I'm thinking these guys have a history .And the white car actually was off the gas when the yellow came accross 'HIS' path and then hit the gas to hit him.

Fried , DO NOT think that way !!! 'just a fan' ??? , hey I haven't raced since 2003 but I don't think you need to have ever driven to put the pieces together . I mean how about the Keselowski / Edwards highlight reel ? Play that out of chronologic order and you forget who dumped who first , and after a certain amount of time passes they probably can't either . The piont here is white car TOTALLY DISRESPECTED yellow at the end of lap 1 then when yellow passed him white dumped him ... I'm thinking white car and MANY others like him run the bottom because too many of his competitors 'owe him one' .

The NJ comment is particularly poignant.  Certainly there would be discussions near or in a police car.  I know of an instance within the last two years where the retalliating driver got to "discuss" it with the on duty patrol officers, but it did not lead to anything.  I cannot say if this truly was an aberration or not.
