That frame rule is pretty clear,
"Ground clearance measurement is measured from the lowest point of measured part " I could see where a DQ could be a legit call.... Not a popular call but the way that rule is written, I think someone could use that rule for a protest, jmho 528
Racing Discussion / Re: Need gears« on: September 28, 2009, 06:01:08 PM »
3.55 gears only come in 8.2 ring gear size not 8.5, the closest you can get is 3.42 in 8.5

Racing Discussion / Re: is spencer still racing« on: August 22, 2009, 05:29:38 PM »
The correct call was made in the feature by the SST officials, the 8 car was checked on the track 3 times along with Gradle when they were stopped by the officials on the frontstretch, at the end of the race the 8 car was checked again and was declared OK, the car was not steaming or running hot so I don't know who or why the initial call was made, could have been a driver in the back of the pack that called his crew chief and alerted an official ?? All I know is if the 8 car goes into the pits for whatever reason his race is over and his night is ruined and for what ? when you are in contact with the leader and all guages are reading OK you keep on racing after all you are in second by lap 42 in a hundred lap race, I don't know who saw what or what they saw but apparently nothing was wrong. I think the officials in the end made a good call.

Radar as of 12:11pm shows all clear to the west of Spencerport with the light rain moving very quickly to the east, no rain now in Henrietta.

The Tech Barn / Re: Gear ratios anybody?« on: August 20, 2009, 10:21:36 PM »
I am pretty sure the Turbo 350 ratio is 2.52 in first gear and 1.52 in second gear, if I am off then the number is 2.48 in first gear and 1.48 in second gear but I am pretty sure it's the first set of numbers, now on the powerglide the 6cyl trans is 1.82 in low or first , the v8 transmission is 1.76 in low or first.

If you don't have a prayer in he11 of winning the race why not have some integrity and give the leaders the lanes they need, if you are racing for 15th does it really matter

I think he used a 1980 program for the speed conversion in MPH , all of the drivers listed are current I think.

I am on AOL dialup and having trouble with the right hand side also, it started out bad then it was fixed and now it's back to where the text is cut off on the right side again , can just see a little of the quote button, the old web site was perfect, tried adding firefox but it slows my computer down more because I am on AOL dial up.

Racing Discussion / Re: Chemung mid season rule changes« on: August 09, 2009, 12:48:32 AM »
That just makes no sense at all, you can weld the monoball to the fragile tin BUT you can't weld to a rubber bushing and make it stay. Now more money has to spent and who cares ?
I'd probably buy the Urethane type even though they are two times the cost of the monoball ![]() 538
Racing Discussion / Re: who is racing at spencer« on: August 08, 2009, 01:40:29 AM »
Garyt , it's actualy very simple... "BLACK FLAG the offender", I counted 4 major punts, 2 times on the same car once in heat and once in feature, 2 more cars crippled in the feature and 1 not repairable in the feature ( destroyed ) !!

Can you say BULLDOZER or perhaps PLOWTRUCK , I give the track corner workers credit , they made the correct calls.

My first time to see a USAC Silver Crown race and all I can say is WOW, the guy that hit the wall in the Ford powered machine owe's his life to the foam blocks, throttle stuck going into turn one, he never would have survived without the blocks, the car was junk
