I found this Fred Smith photo tonight in my stuff. No year listed. Looks like Shangri-La. L-R is Dutch, Don Turner, Ray Turner, one of the Ehmann brothers. That's the big-block Troyer Pinto (it actually had a 'Mercury Bobcat' tag on the trunk to make it different - my dad was a parts man at a Lincoln-Mercury dealership!)

kt - we went the prior week to Brewerton (1st time wince the 60's when it was asphalt). I agree with your findings - great racing, lots of competitive cars, decent & fairly-priced concessions, nice lap counter, an announcer you can hear & understand. Even saw Rick Zacharias - his son Dylan runs a Sportsman. But the dust was a killer. I guess over the years I have become spoiled by the central PA tracks (Williams Grove, Selinsgrove, Lincoln, etc.). They know how to do it right with the track composition & preparation that usually remains tacks throughout the night.
Not a fan of 'dry slick' tracks, but love watching the action at most dirt tracks. 38

I saw an ad on TV for the Fair, saying to get your tickets for the 'last' concerts that involve the grandstands.

I could be wrong, but I think the 'original' oval was 1/2 mile & when they expanded the frontstretch out to the dragstrip it may be measured as 5/8 mile??

Dom Kreitz Sr also had a nice Valiant at Reading. I think one of the advantages of the Valiant like Bodine's was that it was a wide flat surface, creating a wing effect with the rake he used on the body. Kenny Brightbill came to Fulton on the dirt once with a Cadillac body that was pretty much pure aerodynamics. Someone also mentioned a Henry J - I remember a car that came to Spencer once in a while (Bob Burton??) - I think it was a regular at Shangri-La.

Nice photos bigfeet! I think the #513 is Fireball Roberts, and the sharp #14 is Milt Johnson (B&M speed shop, father of Danny & Alan).

Nice video - brings back some memories! For the unnumbered with Mod, maybe Neil Truesdell? The #7 Late Model - not sure - there used to be a Rod Norton with a car that looked something like that. Good stuff.
