« on: August 23, 2020, 08:33:53 AM »
I just want to let people know that if the race gets canceled due to weather related issues it will not be run this year per the ROC website. The schedule change should be interesting as far as  drawing more cars, stay tuned.

I took a road trip yesterday and checked out Bethel Speedway in White Lake ,N.Y. or Swan Lake depending on who you ask but it is a cool banked 1/4 mile asphalt track minutes from Bethel Woods which is the site of the original WOODSTOCK music festival.I was surprised that it is only 80 miles from Binghamton.I just thought i would share this seeing how RACENY is kind of dead these days. The one name that many may recognize that races there is Ed Dachenhausen ,a former winner at Chemung.

Does anyone have any info on the night of racing at Lake Erie?

Racing Discussion / SPENCER SPEEDWAY
« on: August 14, 2020, 08:16:25 AM »
The racing season at Spencer is done for 2020 according to an article in the latest issue of Area Auto Racing News. The Maynard Troyer ROC for Friday September 4th will likely be moved to Lake Erie.I heard that the track is becoming overgrown with grass and weeds which reminds me of The Lost Speedway show by Dale Earnhadrt Jr.

I have been reading the new book by Lew Boyd called "THE SOUL OF A MODIFIED'' about Lenny Boehler,s Ole Blue and they mention a reference to a book called CAR COMING -An auto racing history of New York State by Gary and Hank.I found a copy on Amazon for a whopping $85.00 for 176 pages.I am just wondering if anyone might have a copy for sale or trade etc.I also read that some Library in Rochester and Syracuse have a copy but they are closed due to COVID 19.Thank you all in advance.

Does anyone have any info ?I called the track and they said the tickets will be on sale in mid July and it is mid July  so what gives?

I cant understand how Gov.Cuomo can let bars, malls stores etc. remain open and not let the racetracks open with fans.I think this coming Friday would be a great night to open Spencer.

I hate to be Denny Downer but the forecast calls for 80% chance of rain for Saturday June 27th.

Racing Discussion / When will New York racetracks open with fans?
« on: June 03, 2020, 07:38:47 AM »
I heard that Utica-Rome is going to open with fans in the stands and was wondering when will all the New York tracks follow suit. The Dirt tracks in Pennsylvania running for a couple weeks now with over 1,000 people in attendance. The ROC has a race at Spencer for next Friday June 12th that as of now has not been canceled. The Oswego Speedway has canceled their Saturday June 13th program.

Racing Discussion / Fulton Raceway iconic wall torn down !!
« on: May 27, 2020, 06:19:48 PM »
I read in my latest issue of AARN that they were gonna tear down the steel plate wall behind the hill on turns 3 and 4 and could not believe until I drove by the speedway this afternoon.I wrote earlier about the high center section of the wall falling down and now the whole thing is gone only to be replaced by a chain link fence,oh what a shame.I wonder how many people realize the history behind this once beautiful asphalt track before it was destroyed by Dirt being put down in 1979.How many remember the iconic roadside sign with a #57 race car sitting on top it.The track is located on Rt.57 about 3 miles outside the city of Fulton.I know I am a sucker for history but come on man the talent that raced there when it was asphalt track is a whos who.Troyer,Evans,Bodine,Kent,Shampine,Cook,Jarzombek,Lazarro,Seamon,Bernie Miller,Kotary,Diffendorf,Dutch Hoag,Nolan Swift and on and on etc.I just hate to see history destoyed.

Racing Discussion / R.I.P. RACENY
« on: March 28, 2020, 07:31:33 AM »
Wow I cant believe with everybody holed up inside due to Covid 19 that no one on here has anything to talk about.

I have been reading the Richie book for a second time and was wondering if anyone can narrow down its location.I took a road trip today to find it and I think I did find it but it was closed and there is a posted sign at the entrance so I did not enter the property.

Racing Discussion / 2020 ROC MOD SHEDULE
« on: January 16, 2020, 05:43:55 PM »
I just read the latest copy of Area Auto Racing News and it says per Joe Skotnicki that there will   be 3 races at Spencer,2 at Chemung,2 at Holland,2 at Lake Erie and 1 at Mahoning Valley for a total of 10 with the possibility of more being added.I think this is great news for all involved.

Racing Discussion / Bring the ROC weekend back to Oswego!!
« on: December 25, 2019, 07:30:19 AM »
I think the race would be a bigger success at the Big O.I know I have bashed the racing at Oswego for the mods but I think the drivers and fans supported the race more when it was at Oswego.Lake Erie is out in left field and cost everyone much more $money to attend.Merry Christmas.

Racing Discussion / Jody Londons XMR race @Oswego Saturday 4th of July
