It's good to see it going back to Friday's just hope I can make it and if I did make it having my 7 and 5 year old's I'd be fighting to keep them seated to even enjoy it... I tried it at Outlaw one night with them last year and never went back

I for one would love to see racing come back to what it use to be ...  But I'm afraid that's never going to happen and it's heart breaking to see all this happen ... Everyone is in a hurry to point the finger and blame the promotors / owners / officials for everything yes some blame can be pointed that way but we all know that the lack of good job's people moving out of area contribute to all factors.... The other problem with less car's showing up at the track  is EXPENSE .    Racing isn't what it use to be where you threw a engine together with out all the high tech parts street tire's and a way you go you went racing .. The cost of the sport is biggest problem we all know this unless some one can come up with a plan that can help the cost and bring cars back racing will not be the same .... Going to the race's has been a part of my life since I was 5 and I'm 49 now wish I could go back in time and relive a lot of the racing....

Don't know how true this is but I did hear something about him being offered a good amount of money for everything up there the track drag strip everything...  The amount I heard was something like 3 Million and this offer came from someone in Nascar don't know who but was told it was a driver ...          Hate to see the place become nothing more then over grown weeds and trees ...  But alot of people are right the place needs someone to take over and run it right ...

Not to get anything started everyones making a big deal about this one race The Richie Evans Memorial 61 lap race at SL2 .....  The first time I went to SL2 was for this race and was I very disappointed the car counts sucked the big one for all classes .... And this year I see only 14 mods come on when the race was held at the old Shangri - La the mod count was 2 times if not 4 times better even for the other classes it was better ...  Maybe and this is JMO they should look into finding some big time sponsers for this race and try and get the purse raised to say $10.000 then maybe the car count would go up get the purses raised higher just for this one race and just maybe you would see a higher turn out .   If I was rich I'd donate money just for this one race but I'm not rich so thats out of the question ....  If I stepped on any ones feeling with my opinion on this I'm sorry but it's a true fact and everyone knows it....

I havent been on here in a long time due to unforseen marriage problems and divorce......  But I have been saying the same thing for a couple years about the cost ..... The street stocks of today are nothing like they were from the past where you went to the local junk yard and picked up parts if something broke ...  The engine cost are out of control but I do agree on a crate engine ....  If you want the car counts to go back up you have to figure out where and how to cut cost to any class ..... I remember as a kid when a street stock was what the name is STOCK ,,,  the cars ran on street legal tires the engines weren't souped up ....  I remember when Chemung tried to get a class going can't remember the name they called it but only 3 cars showed you would think it would of took off because it was suppose to be a class to keep the cost down and make it affordable for someone to get into racing .....   So I totally agree with RacinInTheBlood1 something needs to be done or local racing around here will be no more and that would be a shame even for me I will still hold onto the dream to have a chance at racing at 47 even though I was screwed out of it 15 years ago by a un named person whos family is still into racing...

A lot of things people are saying on here about this topic make some sense .  But as someone pointed out if the tracks could come to an agreement ( very highly unlikely ) to run the same rules for all classes that could help out big . Sure the economy is having somewhat of an effect keeping fans and other drivers from coming . The only thing that maybe any cheaper this year for racers is gas ..

From this point forward it's going to be trickle down effect with other tracks dropping and closing ... Who's next Bristol - Dover - Maybe Talladaga ?        Hell why not just race weekly at one track like the local boys the hell with travel race every week at Daytona where NASCAR was born .

I haven't seen a Super-Mod race in a very very very long time .  I've seen them run with the wing's only and if they bring them to Shang I will be there before the gate's open .
