I didn't realize tracks covered drivers until I broke my back at Outlaw. An area track owner called me the next day and said "you know that piece of paper you sign every week when you go in the pits that you never read? Some of your costs will be covered." My health insurance from work covered the majority of the helicopter and hospital bills, and then the Outlaw Speedway insurance covered the rest.

Guy is lucky to be alive. He only had half a cage. 2 driver side door bars, and no X bar behind the driver. Also wasn't wearing gloves or any form of neck brace. Should have never made it on the track.

Unless I'm mistaken, Brewerton and Fulton had some pretty open rules for FWD cars. Preludes are close to 200hp stock, and Acura RSX is close to 250 stock. Lots of aftermarket parts available. Unless the RWD are also open, I would think the FWD cars would walk all over them. If you get ahold of Donny Rider on Facebook, he might be able to give you some more info, he runs there in a FWD.

Racing Discussion / DelGrosso Brothers Racing #11 in car camera.
« on: April 30, 2017, 08:54:25 PM »
In car video from the DelGrosso Brothers Racing #11 at the Outlaw Speedway Spring Nationals. This race paid $1,000 to win, and was won by my teammate Codie Baker in the blue and silver Cobalt. Very rough track led to a fan issue, had to pull off because the car got hot.

The race was a makeup from the previous week, the actual feature went worse, I rolled the car going 3 wide off of turn 4 on the last lap for the win. Unfortunately the go pro died after this makeup feature, so I didn't catch the roll on video.

The video is brought to you by one of my great sponsors, Turn 5 Media, LLC. If any of you need any website design work, I strongly recommend them.

It also didn't help that the Suprick rig parked on the main road to the pits. Literally in the driveway. Apparently he didn't want to park in the mud, and threatened to leave. So it basically created a choke point for haulers trying to get through.

I've always said that tracks should have a handout of the general layout and directions that haulers should be parked when touring series come to town. Would cut down on the cluster in the pits.

The track was definitely the roughest track I have ever been on, not sure why water was being put down when it rained in the morning on Friday. I asked an official at about midnight if our 4 cylinder race was going to happen ( I had to work in the morning), and was told most likely because small cars could be ran late. At about 12:45 we were called to lineup, and they told the sportsman on the radio that they had 9 minutes to get as many laps in as possible and then it was going to be official. They ended that race at the curfew, and never came back on the radio to tell the 4 cylinder guys we were done as well. We left lineup when we saw the flagman packing up his flags.

There is another thing that the 4 cylinder guys need to know about and haven't received an answer on yet. The postponed show was an open rules show, using the same rules they used at the Dutch Hoag race at the end of the year. Pretty much open rules with show up points. The race this week is supposed to be normal rules and points. I messaged the track on Facebook to find out what rules are going to be used for the shows this week, and haven't gotten a response yet. Takes some time to switch things over, so hopefully they come up with a plan soon.

I believe there were 111 FWD cars listed as well. I saw a video on Facebook of one testing, was turning 20 second laps. Really moving.

I always wonder why Outlaw does series with a track so far away, when Woodhull is much closer to Outlaw, runs on opposite nights and has the same classes with the same general rules. Just wish Woodhull and Outlaw would work together more often.

It went really well. Tyler really knows how to throw a party. Trophies were very cool, had the Outlaw Speedway skull on them, definitely on my list of big trophies I wan to win.

The old amateur class. Full body, stock location for suspension, $500 claimer on motors, street tires etc etc.

I never had a problem with Jerry in my years at Woodhull. Haven't really had many disagreements in general with officials at Woodhull, other than I know they don't like my slow pace on starts/restarts.

Clauson would definitely put on a show. That would be pretty cool.

Pretty cool. Hopefully his appearance is Bobby Pierce like, and not Scott Bloomquist like.

Once we get my motor back to working the way it is supposed to, I will definitely make a trip down. I had a blast there. Well except for that one time. That wasn't much fun.

Can one take their own food and drink to Woodhull?
thank you

Yes, you can.

I think the 56x was Doug Kline. I saw a picture of the aftermath on his Facebook. I'm trying to remember the other cars involved.
