Title: 2020 ROC MOD SHEDULE
Post by: BOZO6106 on January 16, 2020, 05:43:55 PM
I just read the latest copy of Area Auto Racing News and it says per Joe Skotnicki that there will   be 3 races at Spencer,2 at Chemung,2 at Holland,2 at Lake Erie and 1 at Mahoning Valley for a total of 10 with the possibility of more being added.I think this is great news for all involved.

I believe that's how the English pronounce it.

So what could the ROC schedule look like?  Always fun to take some guesses as what it could look like

Based on rumors, past schedules, and what I've actually read -

Saturday, May 2 or May 16  - Chemung

Friday,  May 29 or June 5 - Spencer

Saturday, June 27 - Lake Erie

Saturday, July 18 - Holland

Friday, July 31  - Spencer

Saturday, Aug 15 - Chemung

Friday, Sept 4 - Spencer

Saturday, Sept 26 - Lake Erie

Saturday, Oct 3 - Mahoning

Again, all Spencer dates are guesses, and Chemung's schedule hasn't been released yet, so sort of guesses there too.

I haven't heard any good rumors  of a 2nd date at Holland other than what I read up here,.. But if true, where do you think it would go in the schedule?

Yup!!

With respect to the schedule, it's good to see the 3 dates at Spencer. Hopefully, neither the "neighbors" nor the track owner put the squash on them.

With the Awards Ceremony being held last night, I was hoping to see and/or hear of an official announcement detailing the 2020 schedule.

Jim - For Mahoning Valley, I also have Aug 1 on my schedule.  The quadruple 16's could be quite interesting.

I'm thinking the silence (I hear only the crickets chirping) is a pretty good indication of what is or is not happening behind the scenes.  We can only hope that Spencer Speedway hosts a few events in 2020; my favorite being the Friday night of Labor Day weekend before the Whelen Tour event at Oswego.

Phredo: There actually has been quite a bit of noise lately. There is a site on facebook, "Fans of Spencer Speedway" that has some news on it including 3 ROC shows at Spencer.

If you look above at LIM's schedule predictions, it is really quite accurate on the tracks with some dates still to be determined. From what I am hearing, their may be a second Holland date in the works.

While not a fan of the split between Lancaster and the ROC, it should actually add 2-3 mod races overall to the Western New York/Southern Tier area, so it isn't all bad.

I know it's easy to get frustrated with the unknowns and all but try to remember we are 2 or 3 months ahead of schedule as compared to last year..........kt

Kenny - Thanks for the information about the Fans of Spencer Speedway.  I was unaware of the Facebook group.  I would feel a lot more confident about a limited Spencer schedule if someone "official" made the announcement or issued a press release with details.

As for the Lancaster/Race of Champions split, I'm concerned about car counts for the unsanctioned shows at Lancaster. Will modified teams from central New York and northern Pennsylvania make the trip to Lancaster for the three events?  I guess we'll have to wait and see.

i think that may be a mis print - i just found this ( and it includes the sept spencer date)

Race of Champions management has released the first nine (9) dates for the Race of Champions Modified Series 2020 season.

The schedule gives fans an opportunity to visit to premier racing facilities throughout the Northeast. These dates and locations will bring together traditional events with some exciting additions to the promotional calendar, giving everyone a variety of exciting events throughout the 2020 season to showcase the Race of Champions brand of racing.

The Series will return to Spencer Speedway in Williamson, New York for three events during the campaign including the 2nd Annual Maynard Troyer Classic on Friday, September 4, 2020. The event will once again see the Modifieds compete in a 60-lap dash paying $6,000-toi-win. Mike Leaty of Williamson, N.Y., the inaugural classic calling it “the biggest of win of his career” in 2019.

Thunder-in-the-Hills will return once again on Saturday, July 18 in an event at Holland (N.Y.) International Speedway. The event is being promoted Ron Bennett, owner of the facility and his manager, Gordon Becker. It is a date and a return of stock car racing to the facility after a one-year absence from all traditional stock car racing events at the Western New York facility.

The Series premier event, the 70th Annual Race of Champions 250, will once again take place in North East, Pa., at the beautiful Lake Erie Speedway where fans in attendance witnessed an exciting event in 2019, when Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa., recorded his record setting 7th win in the prestigious event. Lake Erie will also host another event on Saturday, June 27 as a kickoff to the July 4th holiday weekend.(For more information visit www.lakeeriespeedway.com)

The Series will appear on twice at Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome, including the opener on Saturday, May 16 with the Four Cylinder Dash Series as well as the Four Cylinder Dash Series. On Saturday, August 15th the Series will return to Chemung with the Race of Champions Super Stock Series and the T.Q. Midget Series in conjunction with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in competition at Watkins Glen.

The Series will visit Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, Pa., for the final event of the season on Saturday, October 3 as part of the season ending program at the ¼-mile speedplant. The Series has always featured exciting racing at Mahoning and this trip will also crown the Series champion adding additional excitement to the program. (For more information visit www.mahoning-valleyspeedway.com)

The Race of Champions Late Models and Super Stock schedules are beginning to take shape as well and will be released in the near future while Race of Champions management continues to negotiate dates for all of its seven divisions of racing.

I would think it was a misprint too....but....they have the MT Classic listed on the July date.

So who knows, maybe they are rethinking the Sept. date?....

I'm so confused.....lol

You're confused? Holy crap, I figured I go and settle it all by visiting the ROC website...BIG MISTAKE.

As you all know, ROC is doing the Spencer Speedway stuff and has a section on their website for them.

I can confirm the ROC schedule and the Spencer schedule don't match up.

Somebody better tell the ROC that MYRACEPASS has this all jacked up.... ;D
