Great Pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks Lynchmob.Don Turner Told me That They ran them and Shampine right out of there.Every time they would try somthing new and inovative they would make up a new rule to outlaw it.He said the Regulars would Cry all the Time.He even told me that they found some tire with a great compoundand they were smoking those guys. They outlawed those tires even though it was a open tire rule.Oswego said it wasnt fair beacouse no one else could get them.

Thanks Terry,Message sent.Hey Did you Hang out or help The Turners? My Dad ,Don worked with them on the Corvair and the Vega.Your Pics bring back Great memories. Also,Who is driving the Vega in that earlier pic.Riechert had a orange fullface helmet.Don told me that he had Diffendorf drive the car a few times. My guess is Diff. What do you think?
orange18 - my Dad (and by default my brother & I) used to hang out at Osborne's & Turner's shops back in the day. Jimmy Winks was in the Vega in that photo. I don't remember Diffendorf, but others included Carl Bates, Norm Robinson, Bobby Merz. If I remember correctly, the Vega 'evolved' from the Corvair (Mike Miller days).
Terry,
I used to visit both those shops too, probably between 1965 and 1969. Turner's was a little farther, since I lived in Walker. But I spent a fair amount of time at Ozzie's by the canal on Gallup Rd....Watersedge, NY, he called it. I think you're right about the Corvair evolving into the Vega. Pretty sure it was the same basic chassis. Those guys (Turners) got more longevity out of their cars than anyone else in those days.
The corvair/Vega was the same chassis from begining to end.It had many suspension changes front and back.It was also called the air bagger. They had air bags from a dump truck inside the front coil springs.Ed Flemke also drove the car once at Fulton
Flemke also drove it at Shangri La.
Does anybody have good pix of the dual car?
Lets try this again,
