Jerry Knox also ran his asphalt Street Stock #55x at places like Fulton and Shangri-La.
Very nice pictures, Joe. I really like the "elbows up" Wally Locke LM pic from '76.
I believe the unmarked #17 late model is Tony Vickio from Watkins Glen. I remember him driving the Dale Marion #21 modified at Shangri-la once in '79. He flipped it out of the ball park.

Holy Cow Jay! I remember that like it was yesterday but I can't remember yesterday!
I just want to say thanks to everyone for posting all the photos.
Keep in mind, there was Tony Vickio (pictured here) and Tony Vecchio, who was an asphalt guy. Two different people.
It was probably Vecchio who flipped Marions car.
And the 66 Coupe, is Mark Livingston.
The 55x is Jerry Knox, who later moved up to the Mods, then quickly disappeared.

Not to correct you Frasson as you are one of the posters here on RACENY that I think a lot of but...
Nope, it was Tony Vickio. I have a Shangri-La program with him in the Marion car. As I remember, he had a really tough time adapting to the pavement, but a goood driver nonetheless.
Tony Vecchio on the other hand, donated a fuel cell to me for my restoration and I talk to his brother, Sal, often through work.
Tony Vickio did not have any easy time of it at Shangri-la in 1979. Hard to believe it’s been over 30 years now that these program pictures were taken. (All the photos taken by Michael Marrer)
And here’s one of Jerry Knox taken after a strictly stock feature win at Shangri-la in 1975 (No photo ID – possibly Fred Smith or P.J. West)
Tony Vickio took over the driving chores of the 21 after Chuck Ciprich left the ride. The #21 was a sister to the #41 owned by Cal Smales and driven by George Kent...and we all know what they did with that car !!!Both cars were built side by side by Maynard Troyer.Tony was doing all right with the asphalt until he went out of the park .Little money was the end of that car sorry to say. That was in 1979.
Thanks for the pictures Jay. I have the program w/ the spin photo in it that a past girlfriend found for me at an antique show. She thought she had done something wrong as it brought tears to my eyes when she brought it home for me. It's the one where Dave Kotary took the bounty on George Kent when George was driving the Cal Smales #41. I remember that night like it was yesterday believe it or not. All of us kids were always playing behind the grandstands and stuff but a couple of us ran up to watch when we relized Kotary might beat George. Thought the place was going to come down when he did. That program also has a few pictures of Dad in it with the brown Pontiac too. I believe that race was on July 7th, and I turned 10 on the 12th. Thanks again.
