I found a pic of Dave Lape in a coupe numbered 642T. The pic was taken next to Ray and Larry Dalmata's 643 & 644. Was Dave a team car to the Dalmata's ?

I saw that pic over at dogfight too. Other than when he drove the 44b, I never saw him in anything but the 22. I would assume that since he's next to the Dalmata cars, that it's probably one of their's. I'd be interested in knowing the answer.
Steve Podolak, Darrell Welty and Chuck Ciprich!
Those were easy ones. These were all drivers that I got to know in our early modified days at RWR,Canandaigua and Weedsport when my dad made the switch from late models to the mods. We got to be pretty good friends with Steve and Chuck and Darrell`s brother, Dale, drives my car now with Darrell being one of the integral parts of our crew. I gotta say those were fun days!
Darrell was a gimme, but I thought the #48 might trip everyone up a little. Chuck didn't drive that car very long. He drove so many different cars.
Yeah, that was his own car. He was good enough to mostly race on someone else`s dime.
Now THERE is a picture I am stealing... Steve Podolack. Steve and I were friends all the way back to when I was just a fan/packer truck driver. I met Steve at Canandaigua one night during a holding pattern in a rain storm. I got stuck in the infield up to my knees in mud, and Steve saw me struggling from the pits. He got on his motorcycle, drove across the muddy track and soggy infield to give me a hand and lift into the pits to more solid ground. He didn't have to do that, but he did and I never forgot it. We became friends immediately - a friendship that lasted until he died a few years ago. And it was Steve who broke the ice and introduced me to Patrick Donnelly, Scott Bogardus and Mel Thomas, who were all involved with This Week on DIRT.
I think the thing I liked most about Steve was that he wasn't afraid or ashamed to be himself back in the days when drivers were just starting to be looked at as "role models." Steve was both a heavy ball buster and partier. If you knew him, you couldn't help but like him. And man, do I ever have Steve Podolack stories...
Thank you for sharing the picture.

Yeah, in the article it does say that's his car. He was waiting for Andy Davidson to finish a new #81. I know he moved to Jim Sincerbeaux's 0 in '76. My Mom had a huge crush on him and my Dad knew him from Oswego, so my Mom did get to know him and his wife a bit.

Not a problem. If I'd have known, I'd have posted it earlier. I remember way back when he drove an orange #57 coach (I used to really like that car). I wish I had a color pic of that. I didn't know he passed away. That's too bad. I did enjoy watching him race all those years.

Hey, who is that guy with hair, he looks familiar.
FYI, the top of his head looks like this now:

I think think that could be most of our heads.
Here's a pic of Norm Welty at Chemung Speedrome 1961. No photo credit on back. I was two years old at the time. Remember it like yesterday.......yeah right...well it's true I can't hardly remember yesterday either!
Rocket. Belated brain fade on my part. It was the #86 coupe. Was having a flashback to an old super stock (late model) hero as I had the upcoming Dave London memorial super stock race. Thanks for realigning my brain cells. LOL
