Larry Catlin's car at Shangri-La with Kenny Townsend driving---Larry did not care for asphalt----that is Larry's tow truck on other side of car
That is one of my favorite modifieds ever - the color, the way it sits on the chassis... Anyone know where it ended up?
Weedsport programs guess: Jeff Kappesser #37 and Dale Planck #77x.

Yep. And in keeping with the Larry Catlin theme, Dale Planck's 77x chassis was built by Larry in 1969. It was the same car Kenny Moore flipped at Weedsport in 1974.
Hard to tell if it's the same car as in post #1957

Looks a lot like the 3 window car that Larry had; the one in post 1957 was the 5 window car.
It may not be the same chassis. The one on #1957 may be older. In the article it just says it was built in 1969, and that he sold it to his friend Kenny Moore. It says Denny just put a Gremlin body on it. Denny actually ran it as a limited. It had a 310ci motor in it.
77x is DENNY Plank, Dale's father.
WoW, didn't get on for a few day.....U GUYS BEEN BUSY! Going back to the Roy Schenk - Hoag car question. I'm pretty sure it's the same car. I know for a fact that Schenk later used the body from the Hoag car on a Show-Car tube chassis. Think he cut the old girl up when he got the new car and reused the body.
One of my favorite Taney stories is one he told me about one of his old Late Models. Dennis said he won a bunch of races because he stayed out of trouble. Seems the car had a carbarator with vacumn secondaries and was real sluggish when you'd get into the gas. He said a hole would open up in traffic and he'd hammer the gas and the car just wouldn't go.....then the hole would close up and the two cars would smash together and crash and he'd go on to win! The quote: "The car was smarter than the driver!"!!! Here's a pic of Larry Catlin in 1971 at Five Mile Point. Photo by Smith.
Old Chemung Photo. By L.O. Duncan. Cubby Chandler had a lot of better days than this one. I was there and saw the crash...pretty brutal. He was lucky to walk away from it.
Sorry, for some reason imageshack lost my Rolling Wheels program, so I had to upload it again. The one bad thing about using imageshack is sometimes your pics disappear.

Yeah I just notice I said Dale. I know that's Denny. My brain doesn't always work right.
No problem. Mine doesn't always work, either!
Didn't Pep Pepacille have a son who raced after him ? I think I spellled that way wrong.
correct spelling "Pepicelli"
I don't remember him having a son who drove. I could be wrong though.
