Thanks for the memories!
I vaguely remember the 1970 All-Star race at Shangri-La and Ray Hendrick coming from nearly a lap down to finish 2nd, I think??
Back on page 68, I think the car on the outside in the Syracuse shot is Chuck Akulas in the Pink Pather #3 Pinto. It's also the car in the front of the Weedsport Jingle the the Ciprich / Sincebaugh zero involved. Look at the little hood / air cleaner protector....I always thought it looked pretty classy on that car. DALE. Here's a pic of the Cozze #44 I snapped at Syracuse around 1973. Not sure who was behind the wheel at this time! Maybe Frank was racing by then.
Here's our rig at the Syracuse race . I think this is 1972. We were pretty classy with color coordinated hauler and all. Of course Darrell Welty at the wheel. Notice the "keep on Truckin" sticker across the back deck.

Is this car the old 331? I thought I read that somewhere.
Yeah, our families first big block Modified was the former Jim Carol owned, Greame Bolia driven #331. Here's a cmposite of the before and after pics. Came with a 396 chevy in it. Dale

Yes it is a Dodge, it started life as a Schuyler County road crew truck, we bought it used and painted it to match. It was standard (of course back then not many trucks had automatics) and had a slant 6 in it.
I remember one memorable trip to Brewerton when they were running on Thursday nights, the clutch quit working just after we left rt 81. We made it to the track and when we left Dad started it in gear and shifted without a clutch for a short distance before it stopped altogether with the center broken out of the clutch. We called Bob Teed (see the Teed's elsewhere on RaceNY) who drove up and towed us with a chain (Truck - chain - truck - trailer) back to Montour Falls, where I spent the first part of the day replacing the clutch and the afternoon working on the car to get ready for Rolling Wheels.

Sweet. I don't remember it as the 331 (a little before my time), but I certainly remember the 2x.
