I'll have to relable that pic with Merv in it. I'm not sure if it's from 1970 or 71. I believe that's bodine on the pole and Evans on outside pole so I think it's 71. Did Merv Treichler run the same car both years? Here's a shot of Bodine and Evans coming down to take the initial green flag to start the race. Photo by me.
That picture with Merv, Lazzaro and Richie was from the 1971 event. Merv had the "upright" #58 numbers in 1971. They were "scoopier" #58 numbers on his winning car in 1970.
Here's Merv Treichler's #58 winning 1970 Langhorne National Open ride: Unknown photographer
for the pit fire photo - it looks like Gerald Chamberlain in the #31 Mustang, Richie Evans, & Lou Lazzaro / Buzzie Reutimann up where the smoke is. I do not remember the details of the fire.
I do remember a few years earlier when Jerry Cook's car started on fire during a pit stop - there were photos of him jumping out of the car in the various papers.
Here's another shot of a pit stop. I have this labeled as 1970. It's obviously Rudolf in the #72. Not sure of the full bodied Mustang. Again sorry these shots are from such a distance. I'm going to post a few that I believe my Mom shot with an instamatic which is even worse as far as the distance goes. What she was trying to document was all the cars lined up on pit road for time trial. So it will be hard to tell who's car we are looking at but I think we will see cars that virtually noby has photos of and hopefully you guys can fill us in on who they are. Pics by me and or my Mom.
Here's the first of my Mom's qualifying documentation.
Here's the last one for tonight. This one was labeled 1968 so you'll really have to stretch your memory.
I think the Yellow, full-bodied car (with the hood up) was actually Benny Parsons
In pic# 1595, I think the gold # 12 would be Max Berrier

I'm not 100% sure my old memory is right...but the name Dick Swartzlander from Pittsburg area kept popping up in my head as driver of the Mustang. I believe it was a maroon colored.
I had this kid picked as the next "DIRT" superstar. Then he just disappeared. Does anybody know what happened to him?
Hi Mark, Good to see you back again. Is that picture taken at Weedsport? DALE
That photo of Mikey Seager was taken at Rolling Wheels.
