Wow, Troyer in a Grant Knig car or a Harraka copy. 1980 must be just prior to the Mud Bus revolution. Here's a photo I took of Buzzie coming onto pit road during the 1974 Fair Race at Syracuse. Looks like he has a king pin problem. If I remember right he won the 1972 and 1973 Schaefer 100's but I don't know how he made out in the Labor Day Fair races those years. I seem to recall Brightbill winning one and possibly Merv Treichler. Does anyone know?
Thanks Lynchmob,The 1974 Labor day I think was won either Ernie Marshall or Gerald Chamberlin.
Brightbill won in '72. I went in '73, but I don't remember who won.
Backing up to that "unknown" #17 Modified Gremlin at Syracuse photo....... I looked at the time trial list for the '77 and '78 Schaefer Modified 100 events, and there were about 6 or 7 cars for each year that had a #17 car and driver for them. I could list the driver names if you want me to do that.....

Dale said the picture was taken in 1980. Lynchmobb identified the driver as Rick Wean and posted a second picture of the same car. I surfed youtube and found the starting lineup for the 1980 nonqualifiers event, and the same car/driver is listed on the ESPN broadcast as Dick Wean. I think he's been identified.
I missed something in that part.
I vote for Dick Wean. I wonder where his regular tracks were as his name does not ring a bell with me. By the way it's DeWhite Schrute from "the Office" helping refuel the sprint car. I mis-identified him as DeWayne Schrute! Here's a pic I shot from the Stands at the 77 or 78 Eastern States race at Orange County Speedway in Middletown NY. I believe Lecomby in the 37 had just tangled with Cagle in the white car and Cagle was coming up beside on the caution to show his displeasure. Photo by me.
Show displeasure? LMFAO!!! Cagle's flipping Leckonby off!!! HILARIOUS!!!
I'm stealing that one, Dale. Too funny!

RACE ON !
Dick Wean was from NJ, and it appears he raced at Flemington (took a wild flip down the frontstretch there according to another site) and likely East Windsor as well. He was still racing into the early '80s. Rick Wean also raced, but he was Dick's son.
There is a picture of the Fran Bohne car on page 11
Thanks for the info. Dick Wean was from Milford NJ. Here's a couple more I took of Cagle after the Lekomby incident at the Eastern States.
agle ultimately drops out. Photo's by me.....who won the 1977 Eastern States 200 anyhow?
