Bud Wards #42 FORD Mustang at Waterloo in 1977. This was also the year and the track that Mike McLaughlin started his racing career. I believe Bud's son,Pat Ward, was running a late model Mustang at this time.
Dale, I USED to have a couple of different pictures of the E1, but can't find them - go figure. But all is not lost. I did find the car you are looking for, but after Bohne sold it to Ron Baker.
Fran Bohne with his #E1 Modified circa 1977: Fred Smith Photo
I think this photo was taken at Ransomville with Scott Whitley #22 and Davey Moore #6 parked next to him.
I loved when the announcers would say his last name: Bone-E! Fran left oval track racing and went tractor pulling.
I loved when the announcers would say his last name: Bone-E!
Then they were saying it right. People who say "Bone" are wrong. It's "Boney."
This was one of the first cars that I ever noticed that had temperature probes in the headers. I thought that was very cool. The southern guys used them on their dyno headers...
For those of you who actually saw this car run, do you remember how quiet it was? I'm thinking Bohne was the first in this area to use mufflers -- even in a day when they weren't mandatory, and everyone else was using open headers.
For the #17 car at Syracude - I have this version from 1980. I did not know the driver either. I posted it a while ago on RaceNY & someone said it was 'Rick Wean' - not a driver I am familiar with.
Is the #17 Jack Emerson ?
Is the #17 Jack Emerson ?
Definitely not Jack Emerson
Could the 17 be Billy Eggers,I maybe wrong but I think in 1980 didn't Maynard Troyer try to Qualify a car Number 17.
Last i knew Ron Baker was still using that same hauler today. Probably only one older than ours.
I think that Ron Baker is indeed using that same hauler as it looks like the one that was usually one of the early pit arrivers every week last year at South Arcade Speedway......
For Les - here's a 1980 Syracuse photo I had listed as Maynard Troyer.
At 5:41 of that video, they talk about Maynard being an excellent driver on dirt and asphalt.
