DETAILED SCHEDULE SET FOR PRESQUE ISLE DOWNS & CASINO RACE OF CHAMPIONS WEEKEND AT LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY FEATURING THE 70th ANNUAL ‘PLATINUM EDITION’ OF THE “RACE OF CHAMPIONS 250”

North East, PA – (August 26, 2020) – The schedule is now set for the September event at Lake Erie Speedway. The Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania, which will now take place on Friday, September 25; Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27 will feature the platinum edition 70th Annual “Race of Champions 250” for the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series. The event includes three days filled with racing and festivities

 

Friday, September 25:  Practice will take place on Friday, September 25, with gates opening at 1:00 pm and practice from 4:00 pm until dusk for all divisions with the Race of Champions Four Cylinder Dash Series being featured in a 20-lap feature to kick the weekend off in exciting fashion.

 

Saturday, September 26; Racing will include the Race of Champions Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series in the 54-lap “Crown Royal” Classic tribute to Joe Reilly event. The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will compete in a 40-lap event that will complete their season. Joining the card on Saturday, will be the Four Cylinder Dash Series and the TQ Midget Series. The Race of Champions Late Model Series will also be on hand to compete in the “Rick Wylie Classic 48”. Gates will open at 10:00 am, with practice beginning at 12:00 pm (Noon) and qualifying beginning at 2:30 pm. There will be an “ice cream” social for the “KIDS RoC” Race of Champions Kids Club during the event festivities. There will also be a lantern lighting one hour after the races have concluded.

 

Sunday, September 27; The featured event will be the running of the 70th Annual “Race of Champions 250”. The event features 250 exciting laps of action for racing enthusiasts and is the second longest consecutive auto-racing event to take place each year in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.  The Four Cylinder Dash Series will run the “Butch Palmer 32”, while the TQ Midgets will run the 2nd Annual “Harry Macy Classic 29”. The Race of Champions Street Stock division will also be on the card. Gates will open at 9:00 am, with practice beginning at 11:30 am and qualifying beginning at 1:15 pm.

 

All events will be detailed in future releases, specific to the division and the event, however, this will be the biggest racing weekend in the region with the ability to include race fans.

 

Tickets may be purchased for the weekend and will be available at the Lake Erie Speedway ticket office or at www.lakeeriespeedway.com. In the event that there is inclement weather, the event will be postponed to 2021, due to the prior commitment to Mahoning Valley Speedway and their Race of Champions Modified Series event on Saturday, October 3, with an agreed upon and announced inclement weather date of Saturday, October 10.

Ticket prices for Saturday, September 26; Adult General Admission Tickets - $20; Senior General Admission Tickets - $17; Reserved Seat Tickets (Regardless of Age) - $25 – Children (6-16) – General Admission Tickets - $10; Children Under 5 General Admission Tickets – Free; Pit Passes – $45.

 

Ticket prices for Sunday, September 27; Adult General Admission Tickets - $35; Senior General Admission Tickets - $33; Reserved Seat Tickets (Regardless of Age) - $40 – Children (6-16) – General Admission Tickets - $12; Children Under 5 General Admission Tickets – Free; Pit Passes – $65.

 

3-Day Pit Pass Combo – $125

 

If you plan to attend the weekend and camp at the facility, spots will be sold at the track for the designated camping areas for $40 for the entire weekend. 1 hour after victory lane concludes Post-Race Event, teams, families, friends will be welcome on track for a Lantern Lighting (54 lanterns) in memory of family members, friends, teammates and others. This event will be socially distanced, spaced out around the track, with Public Address direction. Lanterns will only be purchased/supplied by the speedway at the Series trailer and will be biodegradable. Outside lanterns will not be permitted.

SO the sportsman race will be 54 laps instead of 75 laps as it has been in the past?
