Buckley Crowned 2008 Regional Pro Truck Series Champion.

Corning, NY- Finishing touches were put on the 2008 Racing season as Pro Truckers from Across NY and PA gathered at the Waneta Inn , in Dundee New York Last Sunday for the second annual Awards Banquet.  Family and friends were again treated to a feast that was worth coming out in the cold for. Many drivers spent their time reminiscing and discussing plans for 2009.

Tour Promoter Mike Warren started of the ceremony with a brief recap of 2008, and talked about his excitement watching not only the championship battles, but also the battle for the Burgess Family Racing Rookie of the Year Award. Christian Thompson, Mark Guinup and Jamie Freeman were three true rookies to a rear wheel drive, purpose built race truck, and watching them learn the ins and out of dirt racing was very rewarding.  While Christian (3) lead the group early, several Mechanical issues would leave Mark ( 52) and Jamie(8) dueling it out until the final race, where Freeman edged Guinup out by a mere 18 points.  Todd Burgess and his immediate Family were on hand to Award Freeman with his Plague and Jacket.

Last Season two drivers shared the coveted Sportsmanship Award. ?There is not a single one of you that deserve this award more than any other. All of you have shown the attitude and actions of what a Sportsman should be. At every single race there was not one time that a driver was not willing to help out another team. It was that camaraderie that brought a family type atmosphere to our pits, and I hope you take that with you wherever you race in 2009.? Warren stated before getting into the Presentation of the Top 10 in Points.

Receiving Points money and trophies were :
10th- Mike Warren (5)
9th ? Bill Edmister ( 44)
8th Ralph Champion Jr.(27, not present)
7th- Terry Povoski (4)
6th- Christian Thompson (3)
5th ? Chris LeRoux (32)
4th Mark Guinup ( 52)
3rd Jamie Freeman (8)
2nd Tim Povoski (2p)

Doug Buckley had Prior engagements that could not be broken, but The Owner of the number 2 Teed Chassis Dodge Bob Teed Sr. was on hand to accept the trophy and Doug?s share of the 2008 points fund. Bob, being the humble man he is, made short work of his acceptance speech, but made it clear, that this is a group he has enjoyed racing with, and will remember these days for many years to come.
Congratulations  Doug and everyone at Teed Chassis on an outstanding job.

After the awards were given out, teams were informed that as of this date, no tour dates have been set, nor will be set. Drivers that had pre registered have been refunded their fee. No specific reason was given for the demise of the series, but several factors that were to hard to overcome made it a sad but inevitable decision.

Special Awards have been presented to D and J Fotos, S and W Awards and Photos,  Precision Automotive, Woodhull Raceway, Redline Raceway, Northern State Auto, Inc. and Signs Plus of Kanona for their unwavering Support of the Pro Truck Series.

Thank You to the teams, friends, drivers, fans and family that have supported us.
Without you none of this would have even been remotely possible. Thank You for letting me attempt this and try to give the trucks a home in the Southern Tier. Best of Luck to all of you in 2009, and I hope to see you on a track next season, right next to me going through the turns on a dirt track somewhere.
