DELANGE RACING BUILDS MOMENTUM FOR DTRP

Eric Beers and the DeLange Racing team recovered from a disappointing eighth place finish at Spencer Speedway on June 19 to post a solid effort in the Race of Champions Dart Asphalt Modified Tour 75 last Friday night, July 10, at Wyoming County International Speedway. In a wreck-filled race that saw only eight of 21 starters still running at the checkered flag, Beers steered the DeLange Racing #45 through the carnage on the Perry, New York one-third mile oval and took the checkered flag in fourth place. The finish boosted Beers into fourth in the RoC Tour point standings after three of nine scheduled events.

?I guess the good thing is we survived the battle tonight with the car in one piece,? explained team owner Dave DeLange after the WCIS event. ?We scored a good finish due to Eric?s driving skills. He managed to avoid trouble on a night where there was plenty of it to go around and ended up in the top-five. We can?t be disappointed with that at all. And now it?s on to our home track.?

The Race of Champions Tour moves to Dunn Tire Park Speedway in Lancaster, New York on Saturday night, July 18, for a 75-lap feature. Beers currently stands third in the point standings after three of nine scheduled races, just 32 behind the leader. Beers is looking forward to a home cooked meal with the winner?s trophy as the main dish on the menu.

?At Wyoming County we definitely had a car capable of winning,? he says. ?When you have that and you don?t make it to Victory Lane it just makes you even hungrier for success. The team is excited to get back to the familiar surroundings of DTRP. We always seem to run well at home. The last time we competed there we were leading before rain showers ended the racing program too early. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative when we return.?

As the saying goes, there is no place like home.

A bad day at the racetrack is still better than a good day anywhere else! May God Bless Dutch Hoag - the best idol a boy who never grew up could have.
