Racing Discussion / Re: Hillside Buffalo

Hollandracer83,

It was not the best move of track management to choose not to return repeated calls, texts, or emails regarding the situation.  I normally don't condone discussing business dealings in a public forum, but I am a for-hire professional who 99% of the time makes an agreement with a group (big or small) and it's honored with respect and integrity.  Unfortunately, this is not one of those cases, and I will not affiliate myself with a facility that conducts its business with me in this manner.  I won't say anything about the facility and its management except for this case, because it directly involves me...I do not, nor will I, spread second-and-third-hand information that may/may not be correct...it's not my place.  I hope the competitors enjoy this weekend's banquet and have a successful 2019 at the track, as well as the staff that I worked with, who were all fantastic people...my quarrel is not with them.

Due to non-payment for services rendered and no communication from management to resolve the matter, I am ending any and all affiliation with Hillside Buffalo effective immediately.  Any questions or concerns regarding the track should be directed to management.  Thank you.

Add Utica-Rome to the list with Sportsman/Pro Stocks and Monster Trucks on Oct. 27th...same day, Adirondack is doing a couple of Enduros and a train race.

The Paynes were hoping to get off the ground before the end of the season but I think there was too much work to be done...I"m expecting them to hit the ground running in 2019 while they look for someone to lease/buy the facility.

Rp22, have you reached out to the track on this, or are you just posting about it here?   Curious.

Glad to see our Buffalo fans are getting MAV...now the Finger Lakes (Rochester) needs to get it on, I'll pay for it as part of a tier if I need to, what's an extra few bucks a month for quality racing coverage?

Racing Discussion / Re: Shangrila-2 is holding a meeting
« on: March 12, 2018, 12:05:51 PM »
I attended the meeting.

The meeting room was full, all seats were taken and I stood with several other to listen.

The meeting was very well conducted.  George was very clear about his plans for the track, he allowed and fielded questions very well.  He also listened and asked for comments and suggestions.

All of the participants were very respectful and conducted themselves professionally.

Ron Hills was there to video the complete meeting.

Rather than trying to take something out of context and comment here, I think it would be better to wait for an official press release or an announcement on the track website regarding plans to race this year and next year.

My only comment is that it was a very positive meeting and there was a sense among those that I spoke with after the meeting, that this great facility would have racing again.

Getting some official info out is going to be critical, sooner rather than later.   It would be a smart idea to schedule a press conference somewhere in the area and live stream it for the public...does SL2 even have a social media presence/footprint outside of their web site?

Racing Discussion / Re: What Did You Think About the Daytona 500?
« on: February 20, 2018, 09:39:10 AM »
As long as we have belly-aching about 'blocking', we'll have sub-par product...I have frequently said that the 'newer' generation of racers lack the respect for each other (as well as the understanding that it's a PRIVILEGE, not a 'right' or 'entitlement' to compete on the biggest stages in our sport) that would bring us more give and less take.

We've also become hyper-critical, as everybody's an Internet jockey after the race.  Chances are we could have had an amazing race, with wild wrecks (that hurt nobody), 3 wide racing, and an epic photo finish...and somebody would find something wrong with it...it's how we are now.  Sad.

Not the worst 500 I've seen by a long shot...not the greatest either.  It just WAS.

Geez, if these cars were so hard to drive with the rear ends slammed down at Daytona, how are they going to be on the worn-out pavement at Atlanta?

BTW, I WILL NITPICK THIS:  Nice slap in the face to Brendan Gaughan (sp) and Justin Marks NOT being shown in the starting lineup package w/ Charlize Theron (who was plainly reading from a teleprompter or memorized a script).  You mean to tell me that in the 10 or so days of Speedweek you couldn't get these guys into the package?  Shameful...as was Charlize talking about the 'top ten' before ROW 10 was revealed...that's a gaffe that should have been caught in post production editing; it made her and FOX sound ***** as heck and was easily avoidable.

To those who are pouring the economy sized hate on Austin Dillon...if you were in his shoes, how can you say, having nanoseconds to react, that you would have behaved differently behind the wheel?  Maybe we should be talking about the class Almirola showed in his post race interview, or the genuine emotion and comments from Bubba Wallace?  Funny how nobody's talking about Hamlin driving Wallace to the wall at the finish (heard something about Hamlin getting a RF flat, was that before or after he turned into Wallace?)...but again, same logic applies to that as does to Dillon as I stated above.

All this griping about crappy coverage, crappy moves, crappy racing...some of it is valid, yes, but for the most part, we look about as obnoxious as Internet pro wrestling fans.

There's always one in every group.  Complaining just to complain about somebody complaining.

I like to think that instead of idly complaining, I at least provide some support to my arguments.  Until NASCAR fixes the primary problem of a sub-par product, this is what you're going to get/see...so, is anybody really excited to see the Atlanta race?
