I was under the impression that the SL2 regulars were going to be able to run in this race with out having to make any changes to our cars. I got this from the Big 10 website...

"Series officials were given another huge boost when Amy and the fine people at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway in Tioga Center, NY gave the NYS Super Stocks the go-ahead to hold a 40 lap, 4th of July Super Stock Shootout at the 1/2 mile concrete castle. The Thursday nite show will be a  Series points event and promises to have a bigger than normal purse to be announced shortly. Officials we quoted as saying "Our series has been growing and gaining momentum by the hour. Amy putting her faith in us and giving us a chance to put on a show at a fast half mile like this is really-really big. We're most excited about the fact that the racetrack is a little bit further east in New York, giving a lot of the guys from that area a chance to come and race and see that our series and our commitment to the Super Stocks is for real." The July 4th show will be help under NYS  Super Stock rules and format, the Shangri-La 2 weekly cars are welcome to unload and compete as they are - with no changes required. A lap money program, hard charger and furthest traveler bonuses will all be in place and details will be announced as the race gets closer. Mancuso Designs will also provide the winner and fake, oversize check to commemorate the victory.  Please call or e-mail us at 704-796-5079 or Silverjet64yahoo.com."

Now I'm hearing that we will have to run the 10" tires? If this is not ture at how much of a disadvantage will the 8" F-75 tires be against the 10" series tires?
So I (and I would assume other SL2 regulars) am looking for an official answer so I can plan on this race or not. Thanks!

•Stricken former motorsports announcer heading home: Motorsports announcer and journalist Al Robinson, who suffered a massive stroke two years ago, is preparing to move back into his Waverly home thanks to a lot of help from friends and members of the racing community. Since May of 2011, Robinson has been living at the Elderwood Nursing Facility in Waverly. While his recovery has been long and arduous, he's now capable of living on his own. His house, however, needed to be updated for wheelchair access. Carol Houssock, who has been filling in for Robinson as co-announcer at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway, has spearheaded a recent push to raise money to build handicap access throughout his house. Among the work needed to be done included plumbing and the construction of an entry ramp. Houssock raised $900 at last month's Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour event at Shangri-La II after appealing to race fans for help. Houssock, who is the Director of the Chemung County Volunteer Action Corps, was able to arrange a group from her program to build the access ramp at Robinson's house earlier this month. Robinson, who spent several years in public relations for a NASCAR series [and Dover International Speedway for years] and has been a longtime announcer at Watkins Glen International, is expected to move back home at the end of this month.(Elmira Star Gazette)(6-14-2013)

Racing Discussion / Shangri la 2 Street Stock 6-8 (video)
« on: 12 Jun, 2013 08:21 »
In car video from this past weeks Street Stock race. A couple quick notes...

I would like to thank Joe Snell #11 and Gary Noe #01 for the video footage, with out them there would be no video.

I was running the best I ever ran in this car and had problems with both my GoPro cameras. I was able to only get footage from the first restart and that's it.  >:(

Also on a side note, I'm ordering a new video editing program. The current one I'm using is cumbersome when dealing with multiple camera views and takes a long time to use. I have some ideas that I want to try but using the free editor that I am now I'm unable to do that. So in the next couple weeks I hope to start improving on the quality of the finished product!

Enjoy...

Well we had a pretty rough start to the season but we will get it sorted out! I want to thank Daryl Canfield and Joe Snell for helping us sort out some (lots) handling problems.  :)  We have some home work and will be back at it next week!

My camera ran out of battery 1/2 way through the feature so this is an incomplete video, however I mixed it up a little to give the fans a different perspective on what its like to drive a very bad handling race car! Enjoy...

Once again I will be sharing video footage from my in car camera. Any other street stock teams that would like to have their footage included with this, come find me after the race so I can copy your SD card to my lap top. This will not affect your card in any way and you will still have all the some videos on you SD card that you started with. This will not cost you anything, just the more sources of video the better the final product will be.

If you want to do this, let me know so I know who to expect. Also make sure you set you video resolution to 720-60 wide. This makes all the videos uniform and easier for me to upload. Make sure you set your Date and Time on your camera. It makes it alot easier to find the right video when you have a few saved on an SD card.

If you have any questions feel free to get a hold of me...

It saddens me to say the Larry "Fat Rat" Dilello has past away. Many may know him as D&D Outlaw Street Stocks, or from his many years racing dirt late models, modifieds or his crazy school bus toter.
Living across the way from Larry for most of my life made him in inspiration to me and I'm glad to have had him as a friend! Rest in pease buddy!

Feel free to leave your memory of Larry or share a picture....

I need a grill for my Envoy ASAP! I really dont want to spend $700 for it. GM part # 19121110

Here is the footage from this past weekend. Video from Jake Snell #14 (Red dash, pass. view) and Bob Ripley #99 (Drivers side view). I was hoping to have a couple more camera views but, some dead batteries, a malfunction and a no show resulted in 5 less cameras...oh well.

Both cameras are pretty much edited and synced at the same time, meaning they are both on the same lap and in the same time. I also edited out a few non incidental laps from the middle due to time.

Well this will be my last video of the season. I had a blast racing at SL2 this year, made some new friends, and learned ALOT! My season ended to soon but we will be back next year...I cant wait!!!   Enjoy everyone!

Why is it that every time one person says one thing that someone else may not like...POOF!!! its gone! 2 posts have just disappeared this morning under racing discussion and last week one under results.  :-X  <<<<<<<this is how I feel!

I just want to say "Thanks" to everyone that has texted, PM'ed, or said in person how much they enjoy the videos. Again, any one else that has a gopro in a street stock at SL2, I can rip your video on to my lap top after the race and your footage can be included in these videos! (wont effect you memory card at all)

Well started 16th out of 22 and ended up finishing 8th on the track and 6th after it was all said and done. The race had alot of action and some how I was able to miss all the wrecks! It looked like from my vantage point that I was able to beat the 34 to the line at the finish but the track has him 0.004 seconds ahead....oh well I did my best! ;D

This was my first attempt at putting two videos together. (feel free to leave feed back!) I'm not sure what happened to my captions so you will just have to figure out whats going on. My favorite part is about 5:25 I had a little "help" getting into turn 1!!! And my over excited driving cost me one spot on the last lap!
Well enjoy!

Racing Discussion / Scales.....Question/Debate/Discuss
« on: 12 Jul, 2012 20:56 »
I am looking to buy a set of scales for my asphalt Street Stock (metric chassis). I have never owned scales before but have been able to borrow a set. Now I would like a set of my own that will last me a long time and not break the bank. I'm looking at basically these two sets and trying to decide which one may be better and why?
Feel free to put your opinion about either set or offer any suggestions on any thing else I may be over looking. This is the general price point I'm looking for...

I want to thank the teams of R.J. and Chris Zacharias for loaning us a fuel pump (mine let go first lap of practice) and my crew for getting the car fixed in time for the heat!  I had a lot of fun hope you enjoy the video.
