Going to complete race on Friday Sept 13th.  Catch fence needs to be repaired.

Three classes of cars and they start the premier division at 11... must have sold a lot of hotdogs tonight.

There were 4 classes. Once the racing started it never stopped.  No intermission. They started about 45 mins late.  The rain earlier in the day set them back.  Kudos to the track for not throwing in the towel.

Yeah...the announcer kept saying the rain delayed the start.  Did he mean the rain that ended 4 hrs. before the scheduled start? They must think we're all stupid to say that.
There was no reason, other than poor time management, that the racing couldn't have started at 6:30. Yes...once they got going, there were no breaks (a good thing), but they still started an hour late!

They did a fine job to get the show in as far as they did.  Yes, the rain stopped a few hours before but the effect of the rain was still evident when the heat races started.  The track is notorious for holding moisture and even having rain water ooze up after heavy rain.  Maybe the announcer thinks we are stupid.  Or, maybe the rain really did result in that 45 minute delay.  Hard to know for certain, I guess.
We have the wonderful freedom of expression in this country and I am all for exercising that right.  I am left wondering, however, what one hopes to accomplish by criticizing people who are staging a live outdoor event that doesn't go as an individual hopes it will.

If your correct they would have four hours to dry the track, a track with a history of water seeping through the cracks. Nobody has many laps at this track this year and many have hardly driven at all this year so practice is still necessary for all divisions. Also have to consider that the track crew has seen little action this year as well as green owners. The event could have easily ran much worse.

Kudos to Mike Myers and his staff who were working on the track the minute the rain stopped. The very best in the business. This is a track that is notorious for being hard to dry with the weepers that are near impossible to stop until the ground underneath finally drys out. The modifieds started the night running time trials on a track that still had weepers. It would have literally been impossible to start any earlier than they did.

...Thank you to the management at Lancaster Speedway and the Race of Champions. On a less than best day, they stuck it out and made every effort to get the show in. They took a huge risk and were rewarded with a near capacity crowd. It was only a couple weeks ago when they were criticized for calling a Sportsman show too early. Can't win no matter what you do sometimes.

...How about a shout out to some of the best fans in racing. The people from our area love the asphalt modifieds and that was never more evident than last night....Well done!

Finally, thank the lord that my buddy Karl Hehr survived another horrific accident. All the safety equipment did it's job, from the styrofoam blocks to the catch fence to the construction of the race car that gave on impact to Karl's personal equipment from his seat to his helmet to his hans device etc......The fact that Karl is going to be OK trumps everything that I wrote or anyone else wrote on this thread..........kt

Is the completion of the show a stand alone race or is it combined with other races as part of the US Open.??? Thanks
