Rear end
« on: December 06, 2016, 05:59:58 AM »
I have a 72 chevelle chassis with a 8.5 rear end. It is damaged. I want to put a 7.5 rear end in the car. Is this possible?

I have read on some of the metric chassis forums that you can put a 68-72 chevelle rear end in a metric chassis, but the upper control arm mounts on the rear end housing are at a little bit of a different angle. The bottom mounts are suppose to be the same. They said if you use mono ball or heim style bushings in the upper control arms and upper rear end housing it works fine. With that being said, I guess you could go the other direction and install the 7.5 rear end in a chevelle chassis, but you will still encounter the mount angle problem. I have not personally done the swap, just remembering reading about it. If you google search it, there is some info out there.
