If anyone is thinking about moving to this division, we are selling out. We've sold our 2012 chassis but still have our 2015 Ray Hedger chassis for sale. This car won the second to last race it was in this past season at Oswego. This thing is as clean as a racecar can get. Very meticulously maintained.
We've been racing an SBS for 9 years, and because this is our last car we have, EVERY part that we have SBS related will go with this car. Lots of accumulated parts and spares. Contact if interested.

I think the crates are cost effective and face it if you want to own a race car nowadays you need to be cost effective..I don’t know about dirt but try buying a Bruneau,PT or Hutter for under 20k complete..yes you can find one or build one cheaper...but the high dollar engines are out there.
I hope it increases car counts. Concern though is that sportsman racing on dirt gets to be follow the leader at times when everyone has the same power. With Oswego being so flat and large, hope its not follow the leader one lane racing.
Other problems I feel Oswego has, they do not have any lower level, beginner or affordable class. They have an expensive class and a super expensive class. No 4cyls, 6cyls, street stocks or trucks. By adding a 3rd class you bring in many more fans, drivers and crew. Me personally, I don't want to pay an overpriced admission to watch 2 classes that pretty much look alike and a drawn out show. I know folks will say the gokarts are the feeder class but I fully disagree. go karts on a dirt soup bowl are not relatable to a half mile asphalt track. I just don't see many folks making that leap.
I'd bring my 6cyl over to test if they wanted to see what how one would look on the track and what the speeds would be.
If speed was an issue on the big track, they could run them on the smaller inner track that utilizes turns 1 and 2 but cuts off short of turn 3.
You could do that with the 4cyl maybe but the 6cyl are way too heavy for the infield track.
One of the things that is frustrating to me is that almost all cars and parts from go-karts to Supermodifieds are store bought. I really like the safety that they bring but the innovation seems to be gone. Is there a class anywhere where the smart guy can figure it out and do well? Not sure. Your thoughts are welcome.
Its for this reason I am strongly considering building a 4cyl super stock for Brewerton. Its really the only class where you get to think. Any car, any race tire, any engine combo, lots of room for creativity and use your brain for what you feel is best. Not set up your cookie cutter car and be done with it.

Didn't you have a "slightly massaged" 602 for sale a while back? That's taking some of the thinking right out of it.

Here is the gods honest truth on the slightly massaged 602. And I could give a ***** if anyone believes me but I know the truth and my friends as well. I was racing imca mods at brewerton and needed a reliable engine. There had been allot of talk/rumors and I could not get an answer from the track that IMCA was being replaced with crate sportsman. So I bought a brand new 602 right from fred bean chevy and had delivered to my house. So if imca was dropped I already had an engine and just needed to change cars. Great plan and thinking ahead. Well, 3 years later imca was not dropped and like most 602's I had 3 pistons with holes burnt in them. Again still no word/answer if we being dropped so I had the engine rebuilt. Which was 100% IMCA legal as in the IMCA mod class the 602 is no different than any other engine. No rules, no weight break nothing. (its the 604 that's regulated) New rods, new pistons, .30 over, decked and some head work. 405HP and 415 torque on the dyno. Still had the 602 crank and cam and still 100% legal per imca rules. Got back out for 6 races and the very last night of the season, imca drivers meeting, surprise your being dropped for sportsman. Well *****. I just wanted to race and KNEW I would never be a winner. I just wanted to be out there doing what I loved. So I got a late model. figured I'd be racing against 602's and 604's so my illegal engine wouldn't even be a factor. plus I was never a great driver to begin with so I was happy running 10-20th place once I got up to speed. The second night I showed up to race, RUSH was there and they tried to kick me out. Track stood up for me said he is racing tonight and he will have the problem fixed before he comes back. At the time my dad was in the hospital dieing of cancer so my wife, step son and two cousins just wanted a night away racing and we had to deal with all that. I was running near last, car pushed, blasted the wall. It was either sell motor and get a new one, $350 for GM seals or quit. Due to the circumstances, I quit. I know where that engine is running now, in a crate class and doing well.
and I never once advertised or misled anyone on what the engine was. I was honest and upfront with everyone what was done with it and why it was done.
hmmm this thread takes me back to the LAMOT days

No. The engine I have is 100 percent legal

There are a lot of factors to having a successful crate class. Never implied that you misled anyone.
bring the street /super stocks back
Ask0329, I know this is off topic but do you have an idea why you had 3 pistons with holes burnt in them. To lean on the carb?? I have ran the same 602 for 3 seasons after a rebuild. I do know that some guys change valve springs every 3 races.

From what my engine builder told me its a fairly common problem. Its a combo of running straight pump gas and carb setup was slightly off.
