In theory, it doesn't look like it's a difficult process, however I wanted to see if anyone here has done it and what the process would be, other than the obvious. I have a set I would like to do, but really don't feel like sending them out to do it.
I've heard of welding a small "bung" on the end of the shock and then drilling/tapping it for the Schrader valve.
I do all mine....not too bad to do. I just start with an extremely small bit and go slow. The shot in needs to nearly perfect. Once your in, just run the drill out to whatever size and tap!
Get ahold of Brent Cross. He does really good work, for a very reasonable amount of money and is also very quick with the turn around time. He

I had know idea this could done.........
All you have to do is drill & tap the top portion of the shock, then screw in the little valve?
That's it?
I'm pretty sure thats all that needs to be done. Small hole to relieve the pressure in the shock, then drill and tap for the valve. I'm just making sure I can do it that way without ruining the shock.
Daryl,
I would be happy to help you with your shocks. As Randy posted, I have been doing shocks for some of the dirt guys around the area.
I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish though. Unless you are changing the valving, there would be no reason to want/need a schrader valve. Changing the gas pressure does not change the dynamic properties of the shock.
Let me know if you would like me to do anything for you.
Brent
