The passing of an 86 year old Webster resident, by the name of William Schutt, was published in the D&C today. Would that possibly be the former driver of the #05, "candy striped" Chevy late model, that ran at Spencer's, back in the 70s? If so, may he RIP....
The #05 candy striped car was Don Whalen.
Yes, Billy Schutt passed this week. The same one that drove Don Whalen's late model, among others...

The #05 modified, yes, was Don Whalen (I believe that Maynard drove that car a couple of times, too). Billy Schutt, however, drove the #05 late model.....
Any relation to Al Schutt the southern tier car owner? Number 40 if I recall. Don Diff and Mike Loescher drove for him as others too I have to believe.

I don't think so, but I'm not positive. In Webster, they pronounce the name Schutt "chute", whereas Al pronounced it "skut". I think Billy Griffin was the last driver to run for Al, and I seem to recall they ran a silver gray/maroon paint scheme, with the number 18....
Bill also drove the X-15 Chevy Late Model. May have driven the Universal Cartown 33 Ford a while - not sure on that one...
