When I was about 5 years old I got lost at Lancaster Speedway. Someone found me and took me up to the press box. There were about 5 or 6 men in the press box and they were eating pretzels. They gave me some pretzels to eat. Then the PA announcer said there is a lost boy in the press box and his name Bobby Pretzel. Dad came up and got me. My family laughed about this for years.     :) :) :)

I remember seeing pictures from the Gater Racing News in the mid 1960s that showed the Syracuse Fair race starting the race 3 wide. Does anyone remember this?

There was a crash in the F1 race this past weekend where one car landed on top of the other car. There are some people that think the Halo saved the driver's life.

My wife and I just made plans with our friends to go the New York State Fair at Syracuse. I probably saw about 12 Super Dirt Week races on the 1 mile track. One year we went to race on Labor Day and then stayed at the fair for rest the day. It going to seem strange not having the race track there.     ???

My wife was 6 months pregnant when Richie Evans was killed on October 24, 1985. For a while I wanted to call our 2nd son Richie Evans Smith but we ended up calling him James. James is now 32 and I've been divorced from my wife for 20 years.

There is a tree in front of the Hillside/Holland Speedway sign on route 16. It is blocking the sign making it hard to see. I hope someone cuts down the tree.   :)

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I went to the Finger Lakes horse track. I bet on all 8 races that were on the card and my wife went inside to the casino and bet on the slot machines. While I was in the grandstands I was dreaming about Modifieds racing on the 1 mile oval. The track is real dirt not cinders and there are almost 6,000 seats in the grandstands. This would be a great place to host Super Dirt Week. I know cars will never race on the track but I can dream.
