BRP CanAm Late Model Series News

John Waters Repeats Woodhull BRP CanAm Tour Win
   …Top Three Repeat…

Woodhull, NY (Friday May 25)…John Waters continues to win whenever and wherever he shows up with Dale LeBarron’s Troups Creek Auto Parts CRS Camaro.  Clearly this team is established as the team to beat in Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) CanAm Late Model Series racing for 2012.

Waters’ most recent win came on Friday night at Woodhull Raceway in the second Series tour event for 2012.  He is now two for two on the tour.  In addition he has won a Series weekly event at Woodhull, the BRP Dart Challenge event at Black Rock Speedway (BRS) and two Series weekly events at BRS.

Not only did Waters repeat, but the top three repeated from the Series tour opener at Woodhull in April.  Bruce Miller and Glenn Whritenour finished second and third in an outstanding “under a blanket” finish inches behind Waters.

Waters won his heat and earned the opportunity to redraw for the A-Main.  He drew #12 of 12 with several heavy hitters in front of him for the start of the 30 lap contest.  The stage was set for a great show and overall it was a great show. Waters broke into the top five on lap nine, up to fourth by lap eleven, third by lap fourteen, and second behind Brian Knowles on lap sixteen.

A great battle turned from green to yellow on lap twenty two when Knowles got crossed up in turn two and Waters made slight incidental contact.  Knowles went around and out of the lead.  Track and Series officials made the call that no penalties were required.  No black flag for the spin and no penalty for the contact. It was simply a racing deal between two great competitors racing at high speed closer than we park our cars in the shopping mall parking lot.  Knowles charged from the rear to finish eighth in what could have been his first ever BRP CanAm tour victory.

The show of the night was Bruce Miller’s run from 23rd at the start to second at the checkers. This earned the second generation race car driver the Dart Machinery Hard Charger Award. Hard Charger, but he wanted the win.

The final five laps were outstanding with Waters in front, Miller bottom feeding in second, and Glenn Whritenour on the top. Most of those five laps they were side-by-side.  Side-by-side racing with no contact in an incredible show at Ted White’s Steuben County “Bullring” that will have race fans talking all season long.

The father son duo of Mike Wonderling and Jeremy Wonderling completed the top five with Mike (father) prevailing in what must have made great breakfast conversation on Saturday morning.

Larry Knowles, Dusty Waters, Brian Knowles, Mikey Wonderling and Jerry Wilson, a Series rookie, rounded out the top ten in Tour event # 2 of 2012 and the 105th Tour
event since 2003.

The 24 A-main starters of the 29 entries were determined by four heats, a B-Main, and two provisional starting spots.  Heat race winners were Mike Wonderling, Sean Lias, John Waters, and Glenn Whritenour. Dusty Waters won the B-Main.  Bruce Miller and Steve LeBarron used their provisional starter option to make the A.

Hey Gary why dont you read the brp 5/25 thread where its stats that the HEAD FLAG MAN called the knowles today and stated that he nor the track had anything to do with that call. before you open your mouth and make yourself and the BRP series look like an A$$. You are running that series into the ground and you dont even care. HOW about you let the  TRACK OFFICALS at the track you are racing at make the calls for the race.
If you dont know what your talking about KEEP your mouth SHUT!!!!
