Racing was good at both Volusia and Bubbas. But bring a pillow all start times should be followed by the phrase or there abouts.  A 7 PM start means time trials start at 7:25 first heat maybe 8.  This year Volusia was good with starts and moving the show along. Bubbas can find a way to milk a dead cow during the night. But like I said good racing both places just don't plan on being back early.  If you are staying in Orlando where ever you go leave what seems like way too early it took us 2 hours plus to go 8 miles Wednesday.

Why have a rule book and scales?  I know of at least 2 guys that have been DQ ed for 5# or less.  It is your responsibility to go over track scales prior to race.  Just because you are good on your scales doesn't mean jack.  14 # you are not trying to cheat  you miscalcalculated fuel and tire loss  but lite is lite

The Tech Barn / Re: Bearing Spacer for Wide Five Hubs?
« on: February 26, 2017, 09:20:43 PM »
never used them on a wide 5. But I have on a stock type front hub and 5 on 5 rear hub. I don't know if the performance advantage they claim is true but they make maintenance easier because once they are set you can take hub apart repack bearings and simply tighten nut until it stops. The original setting is a little time consuming. But I have used them a couple times

Sad news. Have a lot of great memories with Gordy. He is one of the ones I watched as a kid and later got to call him a friend. I even got to race against Gordy.

Sorry to be negative but there isn't a class or race track that is not on life support.

Turn 3 just past the entrance absolute best place to watch a race.  Come Saturday and even Friday make sure you have a backup plan.  The entire catwalk is 3 deep.

Great job winning the 5 Mile (second year In a row ) and Afton track championship. Al and Nick would have been proud.  Wish we had some Black Labels to celebrate last nite.

Sean was a great racer.  He was the goal, you rated yourself based on how close you got to Sean. It was a good nite if you ran second to him.  One of the most memorable races I ran was with Sean @ Thunder Mountain. We ran wheel to wheel, I held him off for 19 laps, flipped the bird cage he got by me I finished second to him. That was a good nite

except the opener 5 Mile has been that smooth all year.  Also has had the most bite I can remember (raced there 15 years), and tire wear has been good.
