That 8 valve 2300 wont out power a 16 valve honda 2300.I think you need to do some researching out of the box.Like i said.dollar for dollar pound for pound an import fwd will walk on your 10 car.But i don't have the 3 grand to put into a sohc f23a1 with a f22a1 head.If you want to throw a DOHC in the mix and still keep it at 1.2# per cc weight rule,i think you would be disapointed with your ford.
I am not saying your stang isn't nothing nice.I know it was probably a top notch car.But to sit here and complain about everyone bashing the 4 cyls then bash the fwd's and how they cant keep up with your rwd's is just nuts.LIke is said. The reason they don't allow them in the class down south is the handling and fact they pull though the turns.A lot of imports come with upper and lower control arms with stock coilover strut suspension. It has nothing to do with weight. It is a 1# per cc rule per sohc cars at almost every track i know of that has a weight limit in their rule book.So I  for sure ain't feeling your fwd vs rwd statement. You need to think out side of that box and realize that the fwd's are well capable of more than you think engine wise.I mean ford isn't the only engine that can make good hp numbers per displacement.LOL.
And 2100 pounds isn't nothing.I weigh 2200 with my 1594 cc sohc  engine and could weigh 1800 if i would get my chassis that light.I think the fact is most of the guys that could run with you that had a fwd wanted to run in  their stock dog class cause they had a better  chance at winning with their bone stock engines on street tires, cause they didn't want to spend the money. They just want to go out and play with out spending a lot. There for they are the entry class that no one cares to watch. The one some think are annoying sounding.
