Racing Discussion / Re: NASCAR Changes
« on: 04 Oct, 2020 10:32 »
Putting dirt on Bristol for a points race is a joke. The racing will suck (remember first
few Eldora truck races?) They are just now getting decent racing. These cars aren't built for that. And why not go to a dirt track? I don't get the fascination with putting dirt on asphalt. The racing isn't the same. Track conditions are never good. Always chunking up or rubber laid down on 1 groove making train racing. Glad they're taking away some of the boring cookie cutter tracks. I like the new road courses. And I'm especially excited about the Nashville race. I live 10 minutes from the track.

What dirt tracks would you suggest NASCAR utilize?  I'm having a hard time thinking of an existing facility that could seat at least 50,000 people (if not more).

Does NAPCAR even get 50,000 people anymore (pre-Covid)?

Rumor is, someone on the fair board blew them into the state directly

When NASCAR was great, they didn't have to worry about competing with any other sport.  As a former fan who can't even stomach it anymore, NASCAR's schedule doesn't need to change - NASCAR itself does.

Didn’t take long for rules to seem to change or be twisted based on who was involved

I think the top 3 or 4 redraw in heats if you win the week before 13th is the best you can start correct me if I'm wrong.

If that's how it's SUPPOSED to go, it's certainly not happening...

They need to start handicapping, tired of the same guys starting up front all the time.

Hearing that same comment a lot in the stands lately...

Is NASCRAP even relevant still?

He's smart to get away from the train wreck NASCRAP has become... probably more fun and less restrictions running sprints, etc. when he wants.

I've thought the same thing for years, though I know it's only a pipe dream.   Hotels in the area, huge parking lot, ample seating, campgrounds down the road, right off the thruway, near Land of Legends.... almost has the makings to be a good fit, minus the surface.

i can give you some insight to the problem. most people in racing aren't college edjumicated and got tired of being lectured and sculed on grammer spelling, nouns and verbs. they solved this by not posting anymore.
it was all caused by a finger. if not the one they type with, its the one they flipped as they left.
see post #s 1 & 2 here above and you will see the point of this reply.  :)

Do you have a problem with the use of proper spelling and grammar?

*scolded on grammar :-)

Has anyone sent one off for battery replacement?  Where did you send it and was it reasonable?

Sometimes it's just a matter of convenience and what you have at the moment.   A lot of brackets, rods, etc. can work if you need them to.  Mostly, it's just the colors clashing on the car.  If it fits right, you can use it.

On top of the coverage on the secondary channels that many don't get, coming from a guy who was a diehard NASCAR fan in the 90's, my personal opinion is that it has become so homogenized and lacks character in this era.  Brian France has let it become Jerry Springer-esqe.  How often did you see a "fight" (which usually results in a headlock or pushing that the commentators try to stir up as a huge deal) back in the 90's or early 2000's?  How many of these drivers nowadays have individual personalities rather than looking like they belong on the cover of a GQ magazine and come into the sport with some type of college degree?  Gritty, old-school tracks were replaced with generic 1 1/2 mile tracks that all look vaguely the same.  I think the blue-collar aspect back in the 80's and 90's appealed to many, and that has left in place of mainstream coverage - the empty seats in the stands and dwindling ratings speak for themselves.
