Cameron Tuttle Looks to Add A Ransomville Title in 2021

RANSOMVILLE, NY (February 1, 2021) Second generation driver Cameron Tuttle is looking ahead to the 2021 season. The Wilson, NY driver wants to add an Investor’s Services Sportsman championship to his growing racing resume this season.

“We need to keep the momentum we had in 2020 rolling into 2021 and finish upfront every single week,” Tuttle said. Tuttle won the Sportsman track championship at Genesee Speedway in Batavia, NY this past season. The 2020 season saw Tuttle and his crew venture to new tracks as well as Tuttle competed during DIRTcar’s OktoberFAST against the top Sportsman drivers in the Northeast.

After winning the 2017 Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman track championship, Tuttle made the move up to the Investor’s Services Sportsman. ‘We struggled the first year we moved up but we improved each week,” Tuttle said. “I’m confident we can be competitive with the top guys with what we have learned this past year”.

Cam’s dad Kirk was a racer at Ransomville and other area speedways and Kirk raced the 35t. “I thought about choosing my own number, but I’m really glad I didn’t and went with dad’s racing number. I like to keep the family tradition going,” Cam said.

The goals for the 2021 season are to be upfront every week at Ransomville and fight for the track championship to go along with repeating as track champion at Genesee. Tuttle drives the R&R Door Corp, Scott Stopa Law Attorney, DanChar Solid Surfaces, Faery’s Concrete, Fisher’s Auto Repair, Lakeside Landworks, and Christopher Allen Construction number 35t. Cam would like to thank his mom and dad, Anna, Chris, Uncle Don, Doty, and Sharkey for their support and countless hours in the shop. Cameron would also like to thank his girlfriend Victoria for all of her love and support.

Cameron Tuttle is proving to everyone that he can win both at home and on the road. The 2021 season is set to be an exciting one for the Investor’s Services Sportsman division at “The Big R”.

The specific one I'm referring to is "Street Outlaws" and recently they're trying to be more legitimate by bringing their "circus" to actual, purpose built facilities; most notably (locally), Empire Dragway and some NHRA National Event tracks like Bristol and others...

Mike, I understand your point, HOWEVER, a person would have to be pretty naive to watch the 'Street Outlaws' program and draw the conclusion that these guys are "street racing". They show up in crew cab dualies, MINIMUM, with their "street racers" (in reality, Pro Mod cars) in a triple axle trailer. They're doing burnouts, using/tuning traction control software, as well as drag chutes.

They MAY be competing on "public roads", but the roads are shut down at the time the guys are competing. It's NOTHING like the "old days" on Lake Avenue/ the Lake Ontario State Parkway in Rochester, or the Irondequoit Bay Bridge, before the bridge was open to the public. Those were "street races"................

Leadfoot4:  No matter where it happens--it gives the sport a "black-eye" if something bad happens...My point is: traditional media refers to it as "drag racing" which might seem like it's just semantics--but it should be called what it is:  "illegal street racing".  NHRA is seriously concerned:  http://www.gmpowerhouses.com/2015/02/nhra-going-against-street-outlaw.html

NASCAR only does what it does because TV coverage (soon to be mostly or completely streamed) is KING.  I repeat, broadcast coverage is KING!!!

Sid and Carol Jeffery Memorial Set for July 23 at Ransomville

RANSOMVILLE, NY (February 11, 2021) The Sid and Carol Jeffery Memorial night is one of the highlights on the Ransomville Speedway schedule. The 2021 edition will take place on Friday, July 23 with the Krown Undercoating Modifieds running a 56-lap race paying $2,000 to win and the Investors Service Sportsman running a 40-lap race paying $1,000 to win.

“Whatever we can do for the drivers is what we will do”, commented Mike Jeffery. “In 2019, we brought our customers and vendors to the race, some of which have never been to a race and it opened their eyes,” Jeffery added.

Sid and Carol Jeffery were both instrumental in helping others in racing. “The 2020 race was supposed to be the first one without mom, but with COVID-19, that never happened,” Jeffery said. “She (Carol) was very much the leader behind the Sid Jeffery Memorial. She was the driving force behind my brothers, Shawn and Kyle, and myself. She backed all of our racing careers.”

The 2021 Sid and Carol Jeffery Memorial for the Krown Undercoating Modifieds will be a 56-lap feature race, paying $2,000 to win. “The race in 2020 was actually going to be on what would have been their 55th wedding anniversary (July 24) so this year, the Modifieds will race a 56-lap race to honor their anniversary,” Mike Jeffery said.  The Modifieds and Sportsman will be joined by the KiPo Motors Street Stocks, Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks, and the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman.

Sid Jeffery was well known in the Ransomville racing community as he helped a number of racers, including Jim Borget, Mike Jeffery, and Greg Martin. The father-son combination of Sid and Mike Jeffery won throughout the area in the 1980s and 1990s at tracks, such as Ransomville, Humberstone, Merrittville, Genesee, Tri-County, and Perry, and won the DIRT Rookie of the Year title in 1988. Scott Jeffery, who serves as crew chief for Larry Wight and Billy Decker on the Super DIRTCar Series got his start by turning wrenches on the Mike Jeffery racers. Sid Jeffery came back in 2010 to help Greg Martin with his Sportsman career. The duo won the 2014 Ransomville Sportsman track championship as well as the RUSH Touring Series Sportsman Championships in 2014 and 2015.

The inaugural running of the Sid Jeffery Memorial took place in 2017 for the Investors Service Sportsman with Matt Farnham scoring the win. The 2018 edition was for the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, with Ryan Susice being in victory lane. In 2019, both the Modifieds and Sportsman were included as third-generation driver Erick Rudolph winning the Modified portion, and veteran Scott Kerwin, who came out of “retirement” to win the Sportsman race.

A Family Tradition for the Harris’s at Ransomville Speedway

RANSOMVILLE, NY (February 8, 2021) The history of the Harris family at the Ransomville Speedway goes back to the early days of the track. Vic Moore started racing in the 1960s in the Modifieds and Late Models at both Ransomville and Lancaster. Fast-forward nearly 60 years later, Brian and Orval Harris are continuing the tradition of racing at “The Big R”.

Brian Harris is entering his fifth season of racing. “There is a lot of great talent at Ransomville and my goal for the season is to get our first feature win and finish in the top ten in points”, Brian said. “I’m excited to see the new upgrades to the facility and thankful for all the staff at Ransomville for their efforts to make it possible for us as racers to compete every week,” Harris said. Brian’s number 07 comes from Grandfather Vic Moore as that was Vic’s number when he raced at both Ransomville and Lancaster. Brian is sponsored by HAZMAN, The Environmental Service Group (ESG), Stirling Lubricants, Champion Racing Oil, Just Signs & Designs, and SJE. Brian would like to thank his wife Adele for all her love and support day in and day out. “From watching race tapes, spending her summers racing and if not at the races, talking about racing”, Brian said. He would also like to thank Uncle Adam, Aunt Michele, his son Aden and daughter Emily, Father Russ, his grandfather (Bumpa) Orval, his little brother Orval, and their sponsors. “My brother and I may be on the same team but out on the track, it’s a different story. It’s all about the competition!” Brian also said that “everyone we mentioned we couldn’t do it without them as they are so supportive in everything”.

Orval Harris is behind the wheel of the no. 24 Investors Service Sportsman sponsored by Bidco Marine Group, Philipps Bros Supply Inc, and TNT Builders. “I like the speed of Ransomville,” Orval said. “You can stay on the throttle in the corners unlike some of the smaller tracks around,” Orval continued. “A very close second about liking Ransomville has to be the food”, he said. The goals for the 2021 campaign for Orval would be to make his way to the top five. “Ransomville has very talented drivers and running in the top five is definitely no easy task.” Orval’s crew includes Andrew Spurback, Tyler Moore, Mason Call, Chris Moore, Zack Thompson, and his parents, Russ and Dawn Harris.

Adam Harris has raced for a couple of seasons, running in both the Investor’s Services Sportsman and the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman. Adam’s plan for 2021 is possibly running Brian’s car for a couple of races. He will continue to turn the wrenches on the Harris Racing Team entries. Adam is the Uncle to both Brian and Orval.

The next generation will be competing on Thursday nights at “The Little R” as Sophia Harris will be making her debut in the Novice division. The 10-year-old will be racing the no. 28 entry sponsored by HAZMAN and The Environmental Service Group (ESG). “There are a lot of girls that race and I am looking forward to hanging out with them and making new friends”, Sophia said. “I like the food at the track, especially the cheeseburgers and funnel fries!” Sophia’s goals for the 2021 season are to learn go-kart racing and hopefully get top-five finishes. She would like to thank her mom and dad, Brian, Adele, Aden, and Emily Harris.

Aden Harris will be returning on Thursday nights to compete in the Senior Lites division. “It’s only going to be my second year in the kart, but I feel like it has been many years and it has been great meeting and becoming friends with all the other drivers in my class”, Aden said. “I like Ransomville because it is close to home, has an awesome staff, and is a nice community of other racers and crews”, Aden said. Aden drives the no. 05 sponsored by HAZMAN, Environmental Service Group (ESG), Stirling Lubricants, Champion Racing Oil, Just Signs & Designs, and SJE. His biggest goal for this season is to get his first win and finish in the top five in points. The crew for Aden includes his Mom and Dad, Uncle AJ, Aunt Michele, and Emily. He would like to thank his family and friends for the help and support throughout his career, especially his parents for helping him to be prepared for every race and for getting him started. Aden is looking forward to seeing how his Dad (Brian) and Uncle Orval do this season in the Sportsman on Friday nights and how cousin Sophia does as she starts her racing career on Thursday nights.

The Harris family’s history with the Ransomville Speedway dates to the 1960s. Six decades later, the tradition continues on both Thursday and Friday nights at “The Big R” and “Little R”.

Mackenzie Kulesza Memorial Scheduled for May 14

RANSOMVILLE, NY (February 2, 2021) Ransomville Speedway will be honoring the memory of 11-year-old Mackenzie Kulesza on Friday, May 14 with a 36-lap feature event for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks at the Niagara County oval.

“Plain and simple, I’m flabbergasted how three different tracks (individuals) came to me regarding doing these races for Mackenzie”, stated Tony Kulesza. The Mackenzie Kulesza Memorial for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks will be the first of three memorial races scheduled to honor the 11-year-old who died tragically following a car accident in November, 2020. Two other races will be held in her honor and memory at tracks throughout the region. “The racing community showed their true colors as these memorial races literally mean the world to me and are going to be comforting to the entire family, her close friends, and myself probably more than anyone else,” Kulesza continued.

“It didn’t matter what her father was doing at the track, she knew it was my happy place which in turn, was one of hers,” Kulesza said.  Track General Manager Jenn Martin contacted Kulesza first regarding hosting a memorial race for Mackenzie for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stock division. “My emotions for this race are already through the roof,” Kulesza stated. Kulesza went on to say that “the fact that I may be behind the wheel of a car for this race just added to the emotions because now it is my turn to make Kenzie proud of her dad as she made me proud of her so many times.”

Kenzie’s nature was to see everyone smile. She was known to act like a clown just to see someone smile and had a huge passion for animals and always made sure she would buy something for someone else, every time. “Anytime she had some money, she would go to her favorite store (Five Below) and buy some of her normal purchases like candy, chips, Slim Jim, or an Iced Capp from Tim Hortons,” Kulesza said. “She would always make sure to buy something for someone every time,” Kulesza continued. Kenzie would be that girl that would jump in a mud puddle while wearing a skirt and have the biggest smile there was. To Kenzie, there were no boundaries for age to earn her friendship.

Along with General Manager Jenn Martin, Kelly Krull Sam are organizing a lap sponsorship program and having a raffle as part of the 36-lap event. The number symbolizes Tony’s racecar number when he competed in the division. “The accident hit me very hard as it took place five minutes from me,” stated Kelly Krull Sam. “I offered to help as soon as I knew that Tony wanted to a race. I first met Tony when he interviewed Zack for the BEI Lightning Series years ago. My heart went out to him and knew I needed to do anything he needed as I was concerned about him personally and I kept in touch with him as much as possible, just giving support. Tony is someone who gives all racers his support and friendship and it was my turn to do the same.” As an event planner, Sam has the experience to put them together and organize them to work out smoothly.

Having the race at Ransomville is a perfect fit for Sam. “I grew up at Ransomville in the days of Merv Treichler, Gary Iulg, and Davey Moore,” Sam said. “I knew that Jenn Martin would be all in and do her best to create an excellent event, be it, she also grew up there.” She added that “it just makes sense to have one at Ransomville. People love that track. It’s big and fast and that’s what drivers want”.

One of Kelly’s favorite memories of Kenzie was when Kenzie told her that she was going to marry her son Zack. “I told her it was fine with me, but she needed to ask her dad and then ask Zack. She just smiled and tossed her hair and said “ok”, chin up, and walked off like she owned the place,” Sam explained.  “You could talk to Kenzie about life and racing, school and friends and she never felt like you were lecturing or prying. She was simply an incredibly happy little lady, especially when we talked about those things and it made me happy to know that.” “She was and is one of the best people I’ve ever met, and I would’ve done anything for her.”

Besides the lap-sponsorship program, a raffle will also take place, with the proceeds from the raffle going to the family for final expenses. “We are hoping to have the highest-paid 4-cylinder Mini Stock race in New York State history by selling laps to businesses and race fans alike. All lap monies will go directly to the drivers”, stated Kelly Krull Sam. They are also looking for raffle items for the fans and drivers as well. “Nothing will be denied. Anything from large ticket items like TVs, Grill’s Bikes, etc. to raffle baskets will all be accepted”, Sam added. “We are also asking drivers to open their hearts and donate t-shirts, hats, hoodies, and any swag they sell, to be tossed into the stands for the fans that support the race”, she said.

Anyone interested in purchasing a lap or donating to the raffle is asked to message Kelly Krull Sam, Jenn Martin, or Ransomville Speedway on social media. Lap sponsorships are still available. You can also come up with contingency awards as well. Contingencies so far include $100 for the longest tow to the track from DK Motorsports, the hard charger award from Everyone’s Eating Fresh, and each heat winner will be receiving $50 courtesy of Bud’s Apple Pie with second-place finishers receiving $25 from DK Motorsports. To purchase lap sponsorships or giving a contingency award, contact Ransomville Speedway. As of February 1, over $2,300 has been raised in lap monies and contingency prizes.

Two-time Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stock track champion Cole Susice is looking forward to the race. “It would be amazing to win the memorial race for Kenzie, considering our family are good friends with the Kulesza’s and it would mean a lot,” Susice said. “My plan is to even let Tony run one of my cars at Ransomville if he accepts”, Cole continued. Running a 36-lap feature is different than the traditional 15-20 lap distances that the division is used to running. “One of my fears is getting the car to run 36-laps”, he said. “We will check everything over before the race like usual, but the main difference is driving the car easy during the first part of the race so we can be there at the end and challenge for the win.”

The Mackenzie Kulesza Memorial will take place on Friday, May 14. A full racing program of Krown Undercoating Modifieds, Investors Service Sportsman, KiPo Motors Street Stocks, and Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman will join the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks on this night.
