Looks like the modifieds are the only class of racecar that Newman is capable of winning in.

I guess the Daytona 500 doesn't count.  Plus he has won in the top 3 divisions.

17 cup
7    Busch / nationwide
1     Truck.

Newman can also wheel an open wheel car. Has had a pretty good run with USAC.

My favo line in the coverage today.

(from Speed51)

51/NASCAR Home Tracks: Hirschman had a right-rear tire going down.  His team has made an approved tire change

I always like it when NASCAR approves the obvious.

Looks like Matt made lemonade out of lemons today with that 12th.

I was just listening to Sirius Radio and as a guest they had on Dr. Dick Bergman.  All he wanted to do was talk about the Modified race at NHMS on Saturday and what a show it was.  He sounded upset at NASCAR by calling the Friday  race 3 laps short. He mentioned "someone had to call the race 3 laps short".  I just looked at the times and I think the 100 lap race is on Friday at noon and the 40 Lap shootout is on Sunday around Noon.  It seems it should be the other way around so the best race would be on Sunday.  I guess more fans will watch on Sunday because of Ryan Newman winning.  Too bad the best race is on when most people are working.
