Racing has lost another of the good guys.
« on: January 25, 2010, 08:46:47 AM »
I just learned of the passing of Don Post. Don and I go back a long ways, all the way to the old Dundee Speedway days and beyond. We spent many hours together at a lot of tracks all the way from the North Country to PA. Don always hung with me and Jack Christensen a lot and yes, we were known to tip a few together in the old days. Those of you who didn't know Don he was a columnist for Gater Racing news. He wrote for the paper quite a few years ago and then quit for a while. I think Jack and I were responsible for talking him into writting again. Don will be missed by me and many, many others. The infield at Canandaigua Speedway will not be the same this summer. Rest in peace Don and say hi to Jack for me............Steve Kellogg

This news makes me sad. Don was the person who initiated my journalistic career. I met him at Canandaigua Speedway over 25 years ago where he sold the programs. We would talk each week and one Saturday night he asked me if I had ever considered writing about racing. I thought it sounded interesting so I told him I'd like to try it and Don hooked me up with the weekly DIRT program. From there I moved to Gater, then on to Speedway Scene and currently to AARN. Writing has been good to me and I will always remember Don Post for his help and support. Rest In Peace, my friend. You will be missed but never forgotten.
