that Ivan Little-Charlie Rudolph shot at Ransomville makes you realize how elevated that front straight is. If you sit low on the front straight grandstands, you're almost looking up.
I think that's Harvey Hainer Jr. #2H behind Charlie and Ivan at Ransomville too.
This is a pic I took of my Cousin Jim Kings Modified in 1968 on his ramp truck. It was initially built to run on pavement and Jim drove it at Fulton a few times. He put my Dad, Norm Welty, in it for one of the open races at Waterloo (Maple Grove) but the car was sprung way too stiff or had too little shock as it bounced around almost uncontrolable and didn't qualify. I think it was very heavy by the look of the car and already a bit outdated when newly built.
Here's Irish Jack Murphy around 1968. Photo by Grady from Gater racing News.
Here's one of Nolan Swift after winning the NYS Fair Championship race in 1968. Swifty and the crew are ready to party fifties style! Photo by Gater Racing News.
Sorry, here's the pic described above.
Nascar News from Monroe County Fairgrounds...Nolan Swift on cover
Just realized that I accidentally said 1968 on the photo of Nolan Swift winning the Fair race. It's actually 1958! Sorry for the misinformation.
