You should just be trying different setups anyways, being a beginner in this very competitive class is tough. You have to learn how to read a track, follow the weather, humidity, and sun and cloudy days of the race to optimize your setup for the night and what lines to run. Air pressures and the way you grow your tires you'll figure out what your cars doing right and wrong. Once you find a good comfortable setup that easy on the tires stick with it. Changing tire pressures and wedge will be all you need to be a front running car and consistent. I like to try different stuff if I'm starting toward the rear of the field. And use a proven setup when I'm starting near the front. Only those who are willing to step outside the box win the most, unless of-course they run illegal to make up for laziness or lack of homework. Do your homework, it will save you money and you'll feel much better when you beat them with half the motor and car.
Expanding on what Joe said. Get yourself a notebook and write down everything you do! Especially if it doesn't work! How much stagger are you running? An inch, maybe an inch and a quarter is all you should need at I-88. Also, how much caster stagger do you have? On the old track there, I would run as much as 3 degrees. With the new surface, I would start at 1 1/2 and adjust from there. Once you find a setup that you feel comfortable with, you can do a lot with air pressures!
thanks guys been keeping a log of everything from day one .I'm feeling better in the car and we study all the time.it does help having people like u guys to point us in the right direction . all of us at shade tree racing salute you .
where is a good place to find info on how the weather etc. effects the track ?
THE RACE TRACK/ I USED TO JUST WATCH THE CLASS BEFORE ME OF COURSE THE FAST CARS TO sEE WHERE THE GROOVE WAS ECT>>
if you find a neutral set up that feels good you can make very few adjustments kinda just with air pressure.... bottom line is dont listen to everyone or you will be running around with your head cut off find 1 person to help you and stick with it... best thing is to (NIKE IT) "JUST DO IT" belive me guys in the ss dont change awhole lot week to week wedge 1/2 to 1 turn in or out and air pressures... HAVE FUN..
