thunder mountain sportsman thoughts
« on: June 08, 2014, 02:41:46 PM »
any one have thoughts or opinions on the sportsman class at thunder mountain for the past two weeks? Rubbing is and always be a part of racing i know, but last night was something else. On more than one occasion people were driving way over their heads and stuffing their car into the corner and driving over others. So what are some thoughts of the night of racing?

I really cant say as I wasnot there. But just by ur post it sounds like they need 2 have a flagger that isn't afraid 2 make a call and send people 2 the back. As in the past calls have been over ruled or officials have just looked the other way. This is just my opinion.

It appears that drivers are having a hard time passing under green so they are trying to make up for it on restarts which just perpetuates more restarts. Two weeks ago I didn't see a single pass from lap 5 until lap 15. Maybe I missed one, but for the most part there was very little passing until the last five laps when drivers started taking chances.  This week it appeared that the drivers were trying to pass on restarts and were taking overly aggressive chances resulting in numerous restarts which only compounded the problem as the faster cars tried to make their way to the front.  I don't have a solution.

There's a cpl of those "RACERS" that should go back to a slower class. they have no clue how to handle horsepower.. there's one "RACER" that was involved in or caused the first 5 cautions..! racing open wheel cars take a little finesse and ability to drive a car in the corners.. anyone can mash the gas and "BANZAI" IN THE CORNER TAKES NO SKILL JUST THE ABILITY TO HAVE A WORKING RIGHT FOOT..! Maybe he should use his brain a little more..! I know the 71 was used as a cushion several times..!
