Richard F. “Rick” Newton Jr.
BARRE — Richard F. “Rick” Newton Jr., 57, of Barre, a fork lift technician at BMH in Buffalo, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2014) at his home in Barre.
Mr. Newton was born July 28, 1956, in Medina, a son of the late Richard F. and Carol (Giambatista) Newton Sr.
He was a graduate of Medina High School. He enjoyed hunting, farming, car racing and his grandson. As an avid dirt oval track car racer, he was a member of D.I.R.T. Motorsport, nominated for the F.O.A.R. Score Fan Club, Raced Asphalt, Dirt Street Stock late model, 6 cylinder modified, sportsman modified, and 358 modified. He won over 70 feature races and was 1996 Track Champion.
Survivors include his wife Dawn Fisher Newton of Batavia; two daughters, Angelique Newton of Oakfield and Erica (Brian) Covert of Morrisville, Pa.; a son, Ricky (Ashley) Newton of Oakfield; two grandchildren, Lucas Newton and Kennedy Covert; two brothers, Joseph (Elaine) Newton of Medina and James Newton of New Jersey; two sisters, Toni (James) Dunn and Gerri Schultz, both of Albion; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his friend Duke as well as many friends and relatives.
