Why I dropped off RaceNY - and why this is my last post.
« on: August 21, 2013, 07:55:16 PM »
See this post.  Spencer Speedway Super Stocks Friday.   Started by 22racing.

Enough.  These cry-babies can do nothing but complain and find fault.   ...especially those that whine the loudest after supporting the Spencer speedway - what? - twice this year.

I'll go back to the Syracuse.com/forums/motorsports - you expect whining and misinformation there.

See ya.

You are caring, intelligent, and have a good sense of humor both in person and in print. Any forum that is missing the gems you bring will be missing someone irreplaceable. Your decision is understandable, but know that you will be missed by people who enjoy you. We look forward to the next face-to-face.  from Sparky and Fran Hills

I support John's decision 100%. He joins hundreds of other good people who no longer post on here.

It is almost impossible to say anything positive on this site without some anonymous jackoff taking a personal shot at you.

I once was naive enough to think that this site if used properly, could be good for local racing. Ha, the joke's on me.

John come on back. You have been around racing and seen it from many different angels for a long time. I personally know that threw the years you have seen many hot moments flair up at tracks you were involved in one way or the other with. A man who has been around and has your knowledge and experience in my opinion your post on this site can carry more weight than any other 10 posters on a controversal issue that might be debated here on Race NY. Certanly after all these years working the different tracks back in what was some of the tuffer days in racing with a somewhat ruffer croud your skin should be tuff enough by now not to let a thread on the internet bother you all that much. What would Bub do?

I say it's sad to see anybody leave, however if I decided to leave I would just go quietly into the night with no announcement.
It's like when people announce "I'm putting you on ignore" one might as well raise the white flag of surrender.
It's an internet forum and you have to take it for what it is.

What's a kt movement?
I'm averaging waaay less than 1 post a day so don't blame me.

Have to jump on the pile here...I've known oldguy since I was a kid (sorry to make you feel older LOL) and he is one of the most knowledgeable and passionate people in this industry that I've ever met.  We had a good discussion earlier this year when I needed some constructive feedback on a couple of things...I went to him because I knew what I was going to get:  An unbiased opinion and some good suggestions based on experience.  That type of feedback isn't always pretty, but it IS pretty much dead-on.

If he decides to no longer post here, I respect his wishes.  I know the frustration of trying to do things and being crapped on for it both in public and in private, and it's never fun...but there are those of us who are stubborn and impassioned to give up on not only making our sport survive, but THRIVE as we move forward and face (some old and some) new challenges.  I don't see him losing that passion, just choosing to express it in different ways.

Take a look at the big picture, not only in our neck of the woods, but beyond...believe me when I tell you that while certain venues and regions are thriving, others are barely surviving...and we need to wake up, smell the coffee, and work together to stop the bleeding before it becomes terminal.  I don't believe that statement to be hyperbole, but FACT...and I, for one, intend to do just that...stay tuned.
I'm making perfect sense, you're just having a hard time keeping up! ... Matt Smith (Doctor Who)
