Glad You're OK Sparky!
« on: September 25, 2011, 11:40:59 AM »
For anyone who witnessed it, you'll never forget it...  If you weren't at Woodhull Saturday night, Sparky Hills took one off the scariest rides of the backstretch that I have ever seen.  We were so relieved to hear that not only did Sparky walk away, but he managed to keep his humor with him during that violent series of flips...  What was that about having low blood pressure, Sparky??? ;D

Another angle...  This is after the safety crew brought Sparky back to the pits in the track ambulance and dragged the car up in with the wrecker.  Sparky and crew removed some panels in an attempt to examine the extensive damage and also to figure out how to load it in the enclosed trailer.  In the end, a rollback from Crane's Towing was called to haul the car back to the shop on Gray Lane...

Todd, you and your family are some of the nicest people we know.
Your wife was so good to both of us last night and we are both grateful.
Walking uphill with Fran the way she did was special.
She cared and it showed - bigtime.
Tell her a huge big thank you from us.
She made a difference last night.
Sparky and Fran

I don't know Sparky but I'm glad he's ok just the aftermath looks like it was violent!  Also wanted to comment on Sparky's  comment about Todd and his family,  you are so right they are the nicest people you'll meet in the local racing community.  Got to talk to Todd several times and sold him a seat years back really nice people.  Todd you ever need anything down my way don't hesitate to ask.

TOdd sent along photos shortly after Sparky's wreck occurred.  I am grateful that the kid is okay.

My advice to Sparky:  Keep going, kiddo.  With a few more seasons under your belt, you'll get it!

God bless Sparky and Fran.

When I saw him flipping off the back stretch the way he did I thought, omg I don't want to do that at my age . I can't imagine. I'll bet he was sore the next day. Glad your ok Sparky.

Sparky and Fran want to thank the ambulance staff at Woodhull and all of those who helped in any way. The medical crew combined good medical skills with good listening and common sense, even eyeglasses, even checking back later. They are more than equipment and a vehicle, they are caring, dedicated people worthy of respect. We continue to speak well of each of them.  Crane’s Towing did an excellent job using a rollback to deliver the race car right inside our garage. Thank you for everyone who did or said something kind in person or on the Internet this week and also in prior weeks. We’ve met kind and caring people in the racing community who continue to be special to us, and we’ve met many of them at Woodhull. The x-rays showed nothing broken but we cannot say the same about the chassis. However, we immediately had the engine running the next day already and the other backup car is complete. Since Benjamin Button keeps getting younger and younger every year and the Energizer Bunny keeps going and going, …..  we are excited about our racing program for 2012. Thank you again for everything kind that’s been said and done.
